Avsim, maybe it's time to think twice before posting more here...

Exactly. We could publicly list everyone's IP address with every message they post. We don't do that for obvious reasons, but smaller sites do. And yes, every IP you use with your account is logged and stored forever here. We have banned people that have had over 20 IP's associated with their accounts. This isn't rocket science and folks that are squeamish about IP's being recorded should buy a log cabin somewhere and stay far far away from the Internet.

(Quote'd from an another post, Author Tom A.)

Regards that quote i refer too, about logging IP adresses, what about my account then, like me, i restart my modem every morning, maybe i get banned then? Since my ISP gives me a new IP every time i restart my modem! How many others haven't the same thing when restarting modem's?

Just wonder?

I have been here since 2004 and Avsim have been great place for me for so long time, Like me, i'm not member of "The Inner Circle" here or another place, just an ordinary guy, aged 54, who want's to get and give information to this little Sim community, when i have something to share or when i look for some information to get.

I have always gone to Avsim for that, but lately i must think twice, (maybe three also) every time before i post something, scared of posting something stupid thing so that many in this community can smash you down to ground, and stamp on you afterwards.

I use to go to Avsim every day before, and try to find some more stuff, tweak's, you name it, to my Sim, it was "one of the site's i had to visit" every day, maybe two, three times a day. But not anymore for me, maybe i will, when everyone get back "normal manners" and not have fun at the expense of others, maybe i never will see that day, but i can hope.....

My personal opinion. (i do not think anybody cares, but...) Avsim have ended up to be an unpleasant place to be......i see more and more of it, my opinion, it's gonna in wrong direction. Lately, i have seen personal attack's, people get banned, permanently, you name it. I do not think I would been here, at all, if not for PMDG, since they have its forum here.

Just my thought's. Maybe i'm in trouble also now, since i tell you my thought's, but "Who Cares"..

Have a nice Sim-day folks.

Thank you for your candid feedback. I think you may have misinterpreted what Tom said (what you highlighted in red). We don't make a practice of banning accounts with excessive IP's... Only if they are showing suspicious behavior around the forums.

So, no you won't be banned for your modem possibly assigning you a new ip every day. This has been an especially rough week for the staff here at AVSIM and also for the members. I think we would all benefit by putting all this behind us and refocusing on why we are here.

Sincerely,

Chase

I think that last thread lasted longer then most forums in the world and that is a perfect example as to how this forum is more diplomatic then the large majority of the other forums out there...I would prefer transparencies on such behaviours, and if you are not acting in such a way...You Have ABSOLUTELY Nothing to Worry about....

It not only lasted longer but it's also still there to read. Another thing you won't always see on other forums.

To the OP: to get things back to normal, as you (and I) would like to see, it unfortunately is necessary to take measures and for instance ban people... We're not in heaven yet and until that time this world will be a place where ###### happens.

Thank you Avsim staff for keeping things civil and friendly around here. :Applause: Josh

How did you only end up with "######" BTW? Auto-moderator "Judge Judy" publicly implied that I was "stupid" when I once made a comment regarding a specific brand of beer

Its not just AVSIM. Its the state of the American violent society of which it's become?

Yep, nasty to some and perfectly natural to others...

Probably every forum software out there records IP addresses. Nothing special about that. If there are people who are posting inappropriate stuff or being mean, at least here, they are warned or removed. That isn't bad. I still think this is a great place to discuss stuff and I learn a lot here.

I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with your comment. America is not "the violent place of which it has become", contrary to popular belief. All the outside world hears about is our bad things, not our good things that happen here, because that is the nature of news media here. And of course, if there is no news, the media will make some news.

Additionally, if you are not living in America, please do not disparage the state of my country; I do not disparage the condition or state of others.

Per Capita, America is no worse then most places in the world and heaps better then the majority of the world. When you have 550 million people there will be a number of incidences of violence of course, but when you break that down per capita and compare it to other places, the numbers are in many cases comparable or better.

People are people and I don't care where in the world you come from.

Hm, as if every member here is American? The latest greatest guy who got banned sure wasn't. Neither am I. (Maybe AVSIM can check how many people are not American? ^_^ ). Anyway, saying that things have become violent (in America or elsewhere) it utter nonsense imho. Say that to all the people who got slaughtered over the past 4.000 thousand years... I am happy to be living right NOW and not for instance a few hundred or thousands year back when things were a LOT more violent, I can assure you.

Strange comment I must admit. I feel 100 times safer in America then I do here in Ireland. I think it's a matter of perspective.
