Here's the skinny on the AOTD's

Featured Replies

It appears that MSG has decided to make AOTD's 48 hrs. long now. Kittychix said this is a result of the community complaining that they can't log in each day. This is the first I've heard of this, however.

I think all the members here have understood that AOTD's were 24 hrs. and some would be made permanent.

I'm going to have some more conversations with Kittychix about posting some of these decisions and the process over here as some of us don't check the Steam forums regularly. We'll see what happens.

Here's the link to her post:

Thank you.

It is also on facebook. Seems a lot of people were complaining they could not log on everyday. I never heard any of this either. I don't think I will like having to wait 48 hours between AOTD's. I think more likely they could not keep up with the 24 hour schedule.

The beginning of the end?

Looks like they are not willing to invest more time to keep Flight alive.

I never heard people complaining about the 24hrs schedule.

The only request was to repeat some AotD`s because nobodys is able to log in every day.

I have seen people complaining that they could not log in to get aerocaches every day but what they usually requested was a repeat of the aerocache, not an extended time frame to collect future 'caches.

I don't do Facebook either nor do I check the Steam forum every day. I would think that something of this magnitude would have been posted on the Microsoft Flight site under the news section.

I can't say this doesn't concern me. It kind of makes you wonder where all this is headed.

Thank you.

No, i almost check Flight`s FB page, News and Steam Forum daily, nobody ever asked about extending the schedule. There were only few requests to repeat the old ones.

Interesting, that is somewhat concerning.

Figures, I start getting into doing these aerocache hunts finally and now this.

Won't affect me as much as I travel a lot for work, therefore there will always be some I miss, and I still have a lot I can catch up on from the permanent ones I have not got yet.

Maybe Kittychix is just trying to ease the workload. For a cancelled game she has been quite energetic, and it might be getting a little much to handle the Aerocaches, update the sites, etc.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Guys, please stop worrying about things we don't know. If we don't know, then the best thing that we can do is to take it in stride and continue to enjoy what we have. Nothing lasts forever, which is why it is important to make every moment count and, most of all, be as happy as we can.

Best regards.

I was thinking along the same lines Luis. Let's enjoy what we have. I'm OK with 4 caches per week. I'm not sure the community is even contributing 4 caches per week. Dig in guys!

I don't think it's as much worry as it is confusion at least on my part. When decisions such as this are made, it would be nice to let someone know. I finally saw Kittychix's post on Steam this morning and it was a sticky. I had not seen this before. All I'm saying is information passed on to the remaining loyal users of Flight shouldn't be that hard to accomplish.

Thank you.

Often, it is best to look at things in a positive light. To see them not as an end, but as an opportunity.

For example, I am told that the contract for the last Flight developer has come to an end - Chloe is probably the only person left on the team. So, MGS will most likely not finish the SDK and tools.

But, now we have a bright and talented individual putting together an independent toolkit for Flight. All it does is repaints for the moment, but imagine if it could be extended to convert and add new airplanes, new scenery models, and even world regions (terrain).

Maybe he could be persuaded to add all that functionality, and all you guys that are participating in his beta test would be doing a good thing by requesting this of him. In fact, he might even already have thought of these possibilities. :P Maybe he just needs some encouragement.

That and the motivation of knowing that he will be carrying on the development of a great flight title when the publisher is no longer concerned by third parties.

There is a lot of potential here at the moment, perhaps more than we have seen in Flight since it was canceled. Please make your voice heard, and show that you are still interested in this best of all FS versions.

Best regards.

That would be very nice, I sure hope you are right on that one.

Yes, I am a glass half full type of guy myself. "The sun will come up tomorrow", as Anne would say. I do believe that there are good things ahead here.

Steve

There really is a ton of potential with Flight. It would be great to see even small addidtions and mods. I'm sure he / she would get more than enough support from the community!
