It's March 1... FSX scenery changes to Spring

Featured Replies

I was doing a flight out of KBYI today, in the A2A Cub, low and slow, 1500' AGL, first time I've flown this month. I noticed right away that the scenery was different, greener in many places. Then I noticed the deciduous trees had leaves. Then I realized what date it was. March first! Spring scenery!

Finally, no more dreary Winter scenery.

Go fly and enjoy.

Interesting....I admire your perseverance going with actual time of year. I tend to do what I feel like whenever....meaning while I do winter flying much of my time is spent in spring, summer, fall and then most in summer with weather situations.

I do find winter pretty boring and since this is a game I use my powers to switch seasons at will. I have been known to start a flight in one season and finish in another. What can I say, I mess with reality.

Oh yes. About the only time I'll use a different season is if I want to do some thermal soaring with CumulusX and I need some Summer weather. Otherwise I'll do ridge soaring.

Winter can be very interesting. For example, you're flying along and it starts snowing, and shortly the ground starts turning white from accumulation. The effect isn't perfect, as it changes in large squares, but it's still better than nothing. Another time I was flying in a snow storm and noticed in the distance the edge of the snowy terrain. Sure enough, when I passed the line into normal ground, the snow stopped. A lot of terrain looks really good with partial snow cover, but sometimes it's just... boring.

I always notice the change of seasons, but this is the first time I've gotten spring fever from it. :)

This means that XP is one season closer to displaying the correct seasonal textures? Hahaha

Doesn't appear GEX or default P3D is deciding is spring yet. Of which is still a few weeks off. Specially in Idaho!

Sure wish we could flip the switch to spring in real life. I haven't seen the sun in 6 days here in Indiana and starting to feel like I'm living in Germany again. I dread those long dreary winters. Might be time to fire up a flight out of TJSJ where it's always bright and beautiful

I prefer the winter, although I mainly fly Alaska - not sure when the textures change up there. . Or whether the spring ones have snow. ..

Still snow on the ground here in New England in FSX.

When I lived in northern Norway we didn't see the sun at all for 3 months straight during the winter. It was a bit depressing. Of course, we didn't see the night at all during the summers either. Must be nice near equator where they always have nights and days :)
