March 4, 201313 yr I really would like to buy a 30 inch monitor for the new PC that I am building at the moment. There are lots of different opinions about which brand and size suits better. Also there is a 21:9 inch that came out just now, but I dont know how bad or good looks the fsx on it. Which widescreen monitors do you think would be the best to run FSX. Thanks guys
March 4, 201313 yr I use the Dell 30" at full resolution, and would never go back personally. Instruments are clear to read from the pilot/co-pilot position, and much clearer seeing long distance for VFR.

I actually downsized from a 42 inch 1920x1080 as you actually see more on the 30 inch display, it was just bigger on the 42 but you could fit less on the screen and it wasn't NEARLY as crisp. They are expensive but worth every penny. Wish I had 2!! Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 4, 201313 yr Consider these CNET recommendations, which are generally reputable, though you should always reference multiple sources. I use a ViewSonic VA2702w 27" monitor. It was inexpensive and large enough. Also be aware that higher resolutions may negatively affect performance.

Actually, the size shouldn't affect the performance, only the resolution. I am more than happy on a 28" with 1920x1080, some things are getting bigger and bigger! Enjoy! March 4, 201313 yr I agree with Alex, I'm using 1920x1080 and it's made my simulation experience the best it's ever been. Going from a 15 inch laptop screen to 24 inches in full HD was a major change - don't think I could fly on anything smaller again! - Luke Pabari

March 5, 201313 yr Author I think the dell 30 inch is getting most of the votes. And what about the 30" Apple Cinema Display vs Dell 30 ?
March 5, 201313 yr I would take the Dell over the Apple. The Dell uses a 10-bit panel. The color reproduction on the Dell is far better. I have saw/used both firsthand before. <---------------> Mike Murawski

March 5, 201313 yr Currently I am using two of these: CROSSOVER 3020MDP 30" S-IPS 2560x1600 - they are Korean monitors using LG panels. The picture quality is not quite as good as Dell Ultrasharp or Apple Cinema but it's a lot better than my previous HannsG 28", and for the price of one of the other 30" offerings, you can have two of these and perhaps some spare change! There are plenty on eBay and similar. Look for the ones marketed at 'Perfect Pixel' and contact the seller to ensure low / no backlight bleed and zero dead pixels. If you don't care about a few defects then you can get them even cheaper. Colour quality 'out of the box' is not great but a bit of tweaking with a free online calibration chart got mine looking good and reasonably matched in an hour or so. Geoff
