You compare default traffic and default planes? FSX is 7 year old, XP should be much superior in any terms. But is not. It has traffic signs and better looking cars....
But, point of interest for any hardcore simmer is what you can do with default sim? What is the level of simulation with best payware addons?
Simulation of realistic airliner operation from A to B in XP10 is still far inferior to FSX.
I don't know to many peopl'e who use default traffic, or default planes(in fsx). I see excelent road traffic which comes with my payware addons, and they have traffic signs too, LOL!
If you tweak fsx corectly(and is not realy so complicated), you can fly airliners without stutters, without CTD and without OOM. But, if you don't like or you don't know how to tweak, please don't claim that XP10 is so superior!

Pirata, your right about interpretation. Robert is telling us what he enjoys about the sim, the flight and that's great. But when you throw in statements like,

The view of the traffic bustling along below the plane was mind-blowing - MANY TIMES superior to anything I ever saw in literally hundreds of flights in FSX.

Your using Xpx to bash fsx. And that's fine, but it doesn't need to be there.using capitals to emphasise the point is also not really required. That's where people draw the conclusion of 'claimed superiority' . Xpx either stands on its own two feet or it doesn't.

For the record, Robert is right. The night lighting and traffic are better than the old fsx counterparts. His whole post is correct in terms of the enjoyment he has, it just doesn't need constant comparisons to fsx to add validity to it.

As to the fsx pilots out there. Guys. XPX isn't like fsx, the whole design philosophy is different. It's not going to be the same. Are there issues, yes. But in time, these will either be fixed, worked around outside the sim or just lived with. In the meantime, enjoy the sim you enjoy. Anything else is a waste of flying time. :-)

Can you show me where within this posts anybody is "Claiming" XP's superiority?

Simulation of realistic airliner operation from A to B in XP10 is still far inferior to FSX.

But here you are "Claiming" FSX superiority!!!

I don't get it!!!

Indeed a very wise comment, excellent point Jessica!!!

Hello everyone,

Thank you Robert I enjoyed reading your post very much, I am an FSX user and very new to flight simulation there's much  that I don't understand as it is, I had heard about to XP from another source and had decided to look at it especially the free demo.

The only thing that disappointed me was the time limit for joystick/yoke input set at just 15 minutes, I assume this includes the time one spends mapping responses also, I felt in that case it wasn't a very good free demo and was thinking an hour would've been better.

Instead of the free demo I had decided to look at other people's opinions and videos for the present time, as I said I thoroughly enjoyed

The X-plane 15-minute time limit is too short.  I bought X-Plane on faith and am glad I did.  Being able to take your time when you are setting up for flight is VERY important, and since it's all-new, you really need extra time to get the plane and its controls set up, and 15 minutes isn't adequate.  You're out of time before you take off!

I don't claim X-Plane is superior to another platform.  I said that one certain portion of the flight experience was in my personal view, better than that same element in the competition's product.  There are many things FSX offers that are prettier and better realized than the matching item in X-Plane.  There is a huge army of 3PDs (third party developers) building for FSX that together, have made FSX "With all the toys" very compelling.  By the same token, there are some pilots who don't want to become computer technicians in order to fly their simulator, and if we're being honest, FSX -requires- tweaking on some level.  You can automate it with ******* Bojote, you can read some of the very fine posts here by some AVSIM staff and members with great tips on squeezing the last frame out of FSX, or you can fly a platform that requires far less adjusting and doesn't have the inherent limitations of 32-bit memory ceiling.  It took quite a lot to go away from the old girl to the new one.  I can only say that as others have suggested, go fly whichever and whatever floats your boat.  Don't get invested if someone says they found joy with product X or product F.  It's really just personal opinion, and I'm not saying you're wrong for liking whatever you fly.

The very first post in this thread from the OP!!

He is claiming superiority in two very specific areas, road traffic and night lighting, not as an overall sim. An FSX fan could equally say FSX has a much superior range of 3rd party add-on and better default landmarks. Both are correct, neither are controversial.

Thank you sir.  Precisely. The only thing that matters is what makes each of us happy and joyful.  Me, I gotta go fly!

You're are sadly confusing words, please read OP again. He is emphasizing his long time dream of superior experience. Experiences vary from human to human you know. This in any way emphasizes XP' superiority over FSX.

Why do you FSX lovers get offended right away when someone posts his/her's wonderful experience in XP10?

Bashing OP comments only shows signs of frustration with the "other sim".

Very well pointed out.

"pause" worked for setup with XP9. I think it works with XP10 also. Does't count for the time limit.

I wish to say this folks,

As a newcomer to simulation, some will see "Superior" others will see "Comparison", If I wanted to purchase a new Car I would compare, and I would share my opinions with my "Friends" and they would not take offence.

I love FSX there is no doubt about it, but I also enjoyed this post it was most thorough and gave some fine examples that I can now go and compare. I think maybe that was all that was intended.

Thanks again Robert, and  thank you all for those other opinions :-)

I didn't get to see that point and  it would have helped just a bit. :-) But I got my 15 mins, and still think an hour would have been much better, I am watching what happens with XP10 closely as it looks good in so many ways. :-)
