April 2, 201313 yr I surely would. I much rather have an updated MD-11 than waiting 3 years for a new product that i might not even be interested in. April 2, 201313 yr This poll is pretty useless since the members active on this forum are not representative of the PMDG MD11 consumer population as a whole. Dev Singh
April 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member Little portion of their costumers? Did they say that? Wow.. I thought they were smart What point are you trying to make? If it's what I think it is, I question your business skills. Say the original 744X sold 25,000 units; the MD-11 only sold 10,000 units; the NGX sold 50,000; and the 777 is slated to sell somewhere between the 744X and NGX. If I can continue to pick aircraft that will sell well, why would I go back to update one that didn't sell well? AMC didn't go back and update the Gremlin and they're now part of one of the larger automotive conglomerates out there (Chrysler). Does that make them not smart for not going back to make an updated version of a car that didn't sell well? Kyle Rodgers
April 2, 201313 yr I don't know. I fly my MD-11 more than anything else in FSX. I really don't think it's so out of date. Graphically it seems much closer to the NGX than the 747, especially at night. Sure they could make some improvements but they're reaching the law of diminishing returns. I personally prefer flying real world passenger flights over cargo (though I did fly FedEx routes with it a lot) which limits the MD-11. I don't know if others feel the same way. My interest in it was rejuvenated when I saw KLM was still flying passengers on them but when considering whether I'd prefer an updated plane or maybe something new from PMDG I'd prefer they put their energy into something new. April 2, 201313 yr This vote just illustrates why PMDG is not going to waste their time remaking the MD-11 and I don't blame them one bit. AA did fly the MD-11 as did DAL so you can do some historic flights or stick with KLM, if there was a PMDG quality DC-10 I'd be doing a ton of old school United routes. April 2, 201313 yr Somehow I think this poll isn't going to give you proper feedback. Most people in this forum already know what the standpoint of PMDG is regarding the V2 of an MD-11, I think most people will just vote what they know to be true. This poll then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, hence the numbers being what they are. I voted yes! :-) Sander Rutte
April 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member DC-10 I'd be doing a ton of old school United routes. Me too. First plane I ever flew on was a UAL DC10 from IAD-SAN. Kyle Rodgers

April 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member Landing a DC-10 and KSAN was always a sight to see. It was quite the experience, especially for a first flight. Visual runway 27 arrival, so it was a clear the ridge, and chop and drop. Kyle Rodgers
April 2, 201313 yr Me too. First plane I ever flew on was a UAL DC10 from IAD-SAN. My first fixed wing flight was on an Air France A340 from ORD-CDG, perhaps that's why I have a soft spot for Airbus and Air France had amazing service (compared to US airlines at least). First flight ever was on an McDonnell Douglas MD-500 though lol Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
April 2, 201313 yr The question was. would I buy it, if they made it. Yes. Do I think they should make one?...that is up to PMDG. Consider this tho, maybe the MD-11v2 would be waaaay down the road (many years) after the current announced projects and maybe after a few future unnannounced ones.IMHO, I consider A2A the top of the FS world, with PMDG very very close by in that every project undertaken is done with extreme detail and care.I would buy probably anything that A2A and PMDG makes. If A2A or PMDG made a paper airplane, I would buy it LOL. As a pilot, I really like to fly these planes simply for the sake of flying them and learning their systems. The 'geek' in me like comparing the Spitfire's pnuematic system to the P-40's hydraulic system, its facinating. Comparing the MD-11's fuel system to the 777's will be awesome.Actually to be honest, I probably wouldn't buy the 777-200ER expansion pack. To me it would thats like buying a stock V6 mustang after buying a souped up limited edition GTO. However I very much understand why folks want it, and I am all for PMDG devoting time to that project....I like the early model P-40B/Cs more than the later variants, even though the later models were much more capable aircraft. It is all good folks, don't worry about what PMDG will or won't make. You know it will be the best there is, and that you be very happy when you get it. In the meantime, go enjoy what you have.CheersTJ "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
