September 21, 200421 yr I'll have a look when I get back home. I can't access Flightsim at work. Grrrrr!!!Victor
September 21, 200421 yr Well, looking at the 3 shots they have posted and the water looks the same in all after shots, whereas it looks different in the before shots, plus in the after shots, 2 are the same shot or close to it.I'm still excited because MS care enought to do this. Looking forward to it.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
September 21, 200421 yr 2 comments. We don't know if before/after were shot in the same lighting conditions.Frankly based on what I see it is hardly an "improvement", a step back perhaps (assuming they did something with water). I think FS Water needs not worry about competition ..Michael J.WinXP-Home,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8, Radeon X800 Pro,WD 36GB Raptor,1 GB PC3200 http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
September 21, 200421 yr I'm only guessing here but anyway:Pic #1: It looks like they are running Water Detail att None (no reflection map) in the Before shot, and High in the After shot.Pic #2: Overcast reflection map in the before shot (probably a Cirrus layer causing this), Clear in the After shotPic#3: Same as #1Even if they did replace the reflection maps, it's no big deal. There are already a whole bunch of replacement textures. The real problem with water in FS is the shader effects - no "true" reflection and the annoying "cycling" effect. -
September 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member Wolfgang, Did you read what's are in the contents in the patch? the details of the patch that will fix, see below: -Terrain resolution is 'restored' to the FS2002 level and 19 m mesh will be possible again !!- There are 160 new bridges included (the real models) to correct for the missing ones- Improved memory allocation and autogen scenery behaviour will reduce frame rate problems- More stability in general, so less chance of losing the sim in mid-flight !- The problem with the Solo Certificate is solved.- John F Kennedy airport has new and additional objects and autogen sceneryThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 21, 200421 yr "Did you read what's are in the contents in the patch? they fix only bug or anomalie, edit default texture are not related to bugs."Who knows, maybe MS threw in a few surprises for us!David
September 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi David,The answer will be until Ms write the fix list of the patch on the Msfs 2004 web site or ask Tom, Miro Majcen or twsimfan in this thread, but I doubt "Hiding details on a patch", never seen this before.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...esg_id=38&page=ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 21, 200421 yr I'm with Chris. We should expect the patch to fix exactly what MS said it would fix, and not bother speculating about any additional fixes. I very much doubt you'll find anything more than they've said already. The fix list as announced at the Avsim conference is more than enough for this 'simmer, and encompasses every "show stopper" I've heard of over the past year. I say good work, Microsoft.thanks,
September 21, 200421 yr I think it's great that they fix it, can't wait to get my hands on it. One thing I wonder about though...isn't the sudden wind changes a bug also? If it is, maybe it's too big a bug for them to fix right now?-Mikkel
September 21, 200421 yr It's all very straight forward and easy to understand except these two points:-"Addressed additional product stability issues in areas tied to different features throughout the product.""Addressed issues with configuration file updates to make sure all option changes are reflected during subsequent launches."Don't remember these being mentioned as problems. I guess I may not have looked hard enough! :-) :-) Also, I presume most/all of the new bridges are likely to be in the US.
September 21, 200421 yr Victor there wasn't any mention of the problems mentioned above per say that would need to be fixed, those two statements are very vague and without any sort of explanation they could mean anything... Chris Willis I don't care what the boys at Redmond have stated, you have to admit the water does look different in those two pictures... :-roll FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi, "Chris Willis I don't care what the boys at Redmond have stated, you have to admit the water does look different in those two pictures..."Yes because water, sky, lights; visual change from season, time, date and water slider settingTo not be disappointed, I recommend to all, do not expect anything new related others than the patch contents list. I think it's the human nature, we always want more.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 21, 200421 yr I myself will be disappointed if the overcast issue hasn't been addressed but a bridge has been added... (If the overcast issue hasn't been addressed that is) and there was no word that it was :(
