April 10, 201313 yr While trying to find the HIGHMEFIX=1 just to double check, I can not find the [GRAPHICS] section for FSX. I downloaded Notepad++++ and did a search for HIGHMEFIX and found it in \gd.dll Everything seems to be running great except I am having skeleton issues with the Queen. I am clueless with this issue. Not a programmer. Thanks, Ron Thanks, Ron Fields

April 10, 201313 yr Please understand that if you read into my original post I can not find my FSX Config. Thanks, Ron Type this into your explorer: %APPDATA% it will bring you to your appdata folder, look for Microsoft\Flight Simulator X or do a search for fsx.cfg from there. April 10, 201313 yr Just to be sure: Go to control panel/appearance and personalization/folder options. In "folder options" window, under "view" tab, check(put bullet in) "show hidden files, folders and drives" and click "apply" and "ok" until you clear windows. After that, go to "C:\Users\"your username here"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX". You will see there FSX.CFG. Open it with notepad(no need for notepad++) and here you have to add "HIGHMEMFIX=1" under [GRAPHICS] section. If you don't have [GRAPHICS] section here, that means you have a fsx.cfg problem. You can delete fsx.cfg, start fsx(fsx will build the new fsx.cfg), apply your settings in fsx menu. And after that, close fsx and go again to fsx.cfg and all sections will be there, waiting for you to add HIGHMEMFIX ^_^ I hope this will be helpful for you Zeljko Budovic

Exact directions. I have done many searches to no avail. I am not on my own system now but will try it. Thank You Ron Thanks, Ron Fields
April 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member You also want to make sure you have the Windows folder option "Hide extensions for known file types" OFF. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided that people didn't need to see the true names of their files, and so you'll often see a backup file that's actually called "fsx.cfg.txt" that looks like its the correct file because the true extension ".txt" is getting hidden by the OS. The true file in this type of case shows up as just "fsx" - if you turn this option off though you'll be able to find the correct file because it won't hide the extensions. I often wondered why I was finding a duplicate. Thanks for clearing this up. Dave Wegner - Don't be afraid of common sense or the search function.
April 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member Type %appdata% in run if you fail to find it manually That doesn't solve the issue I mentioned though - he could still potentially see a bunch of different versions of it there. This however I believe will work: %AppData%\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg Paste that into run or the Start Menu search box and you should get an option to open it in Notepad or whatever. April 11, 201313 yr Typing %fsx.cfg% you can open fsx.cfg directly too. But, this is not right way becouse you need to check that you didn't opened one copy of CFG file. And using fsx, you will probably need this options, folders and extensions, to be visible - it's very likely that you will need XML.DLL, Cameras.cfg etc from that folder Zeljko Budovic
April 11, 201313 yr Does not, indeed Ryan To op - If you did fix the extensions, just copy Ryan's statement into run and it should be there

OK I found it and it is not there. I remember that I got a new system and rebuilt. I do not remember putting it back in. Surprised it ran as well as it has. Do I just add it as a new line? It has been a while. Thanks for your help. Ron Thanks, Ron Fields
