April 15, 201313 yr If not of age to legally drink, its slushie's, ice cream, or snow cones ... 22 in September. I don't drink so the ice cream sounds good. Shoot, dose AZ have a Sub Zero bar Oohhh, business opportunity! .I think ours for a 1400 Sq ft house is about 120-130 a month during the peak months I've seen electric biils in the $500+ range. That was surprising. I would hate to see a sub-zero bar's bill during the summer. Though I think the demand for sub-zero temperatures and ballpark-expensive booze would ease the pain. April 15, 201313 yr Hi Riccardo, Hi guys.. The question was how long...? well you know PMDG's policy on announcements right? Personally... 747 is one of many legendary planes built by Boeing, hence it is still flown today (after 40+ Years) You can see a crash course history in the tube under 777, I forgot which part (3rd of 4th before the actual presentation of the 777) So, will it be absurd buying the 747 now? No... If you like it, buy it.. the Queen is there.. no speculating needed (unlike the release of the 777). I haven't bought it, yet... because to me, it has it's special place.. it was the first plane I rode on from WIII to YSSY and back.. and being a (geeky sort) noob that hasn't quite understand fully "what it takes to fly an airliner". I keep a special reservation for it.. not because a "newer version" is gonna come... it's like waiting on a DC with digital gauges and GPS.. You can compare different types of a series (e.g; -100, -200 and so on), but to compare different series would be like... whats the phrase.. not " Apple to Apple"? But thats just me... Anyway, good luck with your decision... Happy flying!! Gigih Arleedstanto

April 15, 201313 yr If you want to fly the mighty 747, go and buy it. I did a month ago. Though it´s not as superb as NGX, it still is one of the best in the market. Making a quality addon takes time, i don´t know how far PMDG is with their 747 v2 and i don´t know which one come´s first in their priority DC6 or 747 v2. But i quess that we have to wait v2 for a while.
April 15, 201313 yr Well, the only place in my opinion where the current 747 shows a bit of age is in the displays, the rest of it is marvelous! I have been flying it since my FS9 days, many thousands of hours on it and I still do fly it! Buy it, you won't regret it - you can say that about any aircraft in the PMDG shop, and do so with confidence! April 15, 201313 yr Author Thank you to you all guys for your replies. I know the Queen is a wonderful aircraft, I own MD11 (one of my favourite) and NGX, superb. As said before, I falled in love with 747, I don't know why, and thinking that I didn't like it so much until some time ago. I know PMDG policy on release date, and I agree with it. Infact I didn't ask a release date, but asked you how much time that release will take after 777. Not a precise date. @Tabs: Ryan, is at least possible to know if customer who bought V1 will be eligible for a discount purchaising V2 or not because it will be a "new whole standard" aircraft? April 15, 201313 yr ...I'm not going to speculate at all on the 744v2 release timing other than to say that the fact that a 777 is so similar (compared to an NG say) that I think this will tend to shorten the development time. The 777 models and VC are done and those developers are already working on the 744 models. Not being rude Ryan, but that is nearly word for word what was said about the T7 just before the NGX was released. Back then, you expected the T7 to take 'certainly less then a year'. Don't get me wrong, I am all in favour of scope creep but you guys might want to think about how you manage your own expectations. Paul Smith.

Back then, you expected the T7 to take 'certainly less then a year'. Don't get me wrong, I am all in favour of scope creep but you guys might want to think about how you manage your own expectations. Exactly! That was an expectation and, as with all other expectations, it's likely to be missed. If we ("the community") want an estimate (read: "beg for an estimate"), we can easily have one - but basically it all boils down to the old "It's ready when it's ready." Anyone around who wants PMDG to join that huge lineup of developers releasing prematurely, just to fulfill some of those expectations? Not me, that's for sure ... What happened to AVSIM

It took ages to get proficient with the NGX and I dont want to go through that asgain Horses for courses I suppose, I love the process of having to master a new and different systems, it is a large part of the pleasure of the hobby for me. From NGX to 747 is just another Boeing (no offense). There are detail changes but the principles and thought processes are consistent. The same is true from NGX or 747 to the T7. Details change, but no more then going from a Buick to a Caddy. That is why I (and others) are far more excited by the DC6 then the T7. I know I could get the T7 from cold & dark to a destination without opening a manual. I wouldn't necessarily be doing it correctly or by the book, but I doubt if I would have much difficulty. I can clearly remember the delight I felt the first time I got the JS41 engines running without bursting into flames. I had mastered a challange. Paul Smith.

The same is true from NGX or 747 to the T7. Details change, but no more then going from a Buick to a Caddy. (...) Totally agree to that: The automatisms on the 744 make her actually easier to operate than the 737 (considering normal procedures, anyway). Plus the 744 flightdeck gives you the best starting point to learn the 777. (Apart from a 764, maybe - just haven't noticed one yet in FSX.) So I'll ask again: What's wrong with the current 744 v1.0? (...) @Tabs: Ryan, is at least possible to know if customer who bought V1 will be eligible for a discount purchaising V2 or not because it will be a "new whole standard" aircraft? Many thanks in advance, Riccardo Guess, it'll depend on the time lag between v1.0 and v2.0. Furthermore it'll depend on the time lag between announcement of the v2.0 and its initial release. Unfortunately, this question probably can't be answered more easily than that release date question. What happened to AVSIM
