April 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member We are planning on developing/releasing a P3D v2x installer I have a question. I just purchased the q400 and am wondering how to install it in P3D. I do not have the Estonia Migration Tool, but am hopeful that I can install it without it. Within the installation process, a page displays that states "Choose Install Location" at the top. This page allows me to browse for a destination folder and it is defaulted to C:\FSX. Do I just simply change that to C:\P3D (this is what I named my Prepar3d folder)? Reason I ask is when I browse to and select C:\P3D, the textbox for the Destination Folder changes the value and displays C:\P3D\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Should I go ahead and install it there or change it back to C:\P3D? Thanks. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
April 25, 201412 yr Just manually enter the destination path. In your case C:\P3D. Then everything should be fine. No need for the migration tool. [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE

I installed the Q400 with EMT a few months back and experienced like many others a lot of microstuttering inside the VC even thoug the FPS was at a steady 60fps, so I've been waiting for a native installer for this A/C. However, I gave this "guide" a try, by just pointing the installer to P3D and now it works perfectly, no stuttering at all and absolutly NO impact on FPS. Very happy as this is my favourite addon:-) Ryzen 7 9800X3D || MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC 32GB || G.Skill TridentZ 32GB@6000CL32 || Asus ROG Strix B650E Kingston Fury 4TB M.2 NVMe || Phanteks Glacier One 360 T30 v2 || Phanteks NV5 || BeQuiet Straight Power 1200W LG C4 42'' 4k@144hz || Oculus Quest 3 || Turtle Beach Velocity One
April 25, 201412 yr My experience of already about 2 hrs using this superb aircraft model in p3dv2.2, with weather injected by ASN, is that it is working without ANY problems that I can see / detect. Only things I did was: 1) created a dummy fsx.exe in p3d main folder 2) used the fs9 & fsx registry fixing utility to set the path of fsx ( not installed in my system ) to that of p3dv2.2 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

April 25, 201412 yr Installed this with the Migration tool. I'm having serious stutters. It works, just not very comfortable to fly :lol:Same issue here also. Serious frame rate fluctuations. All other aircraft are smooth. Matt Wilson
April 25, 201412 yr Same issue here also. Serious frame rate fluctuations. All other aircraft are smooth. Then try Carlitos way, just point the installer to P3D instead of FSX. I also experienced the stuttering when I used EMT, but its now working flawless... Can you explain what you mean by both of these steps? Thanks. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
April 26, 201412 yr I didn't have FSX or any previous version of p3d installed on my HD. - I started by installing P3Dv2.2 full, into a folder not under the Programs folder! - Next I used this 4th application on this link: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library to set a fake FSX registry entry, as if FSX had been installed into the same folder where P3Dv2.2 got installed. - Next I created a dummy FSX.exe in the Prepar3d folder. I actually made a copy of prepar3d.exe and renamed it to FSX.exe. From there on I installed all of my previous FSX add-ons without a single quirk :-) Well, not the PMDGs... that's a different matter... Regarding the stutters, I also got some, but they were gone when I started using the AffinityMask=15 in my prepar3d.cfg ( I have a i5 2500, quad core, no HT, so this value may be different in your case...) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
April 26, 201412 yr I never added a fake FSX entry to the registry (i still have FSX installed), so I think, this step is not necessary. I also have a copy of Prepar3d.exe renamed as fsx.exe in my Prepar3d folder, but I think this is also not necessary. Concerning the stuttering: I guess this is still a general P3D problem. I see (slight) microstutters all the time even though I mostly have 40-50 fps. This has nothing to do with the Majestic Dash 8 (apart from the fact that any complex aircraft will have a negative impact on fps which in turn also increases the microstutters). Same thing with other aircraft. I guess this is something we all have to accept at this stage. LM will most certainly improve P3D in this aspect. Changing the Affinity Mask setting can help somewhat (see also the LM forum for an ongoing discussion in this respect) but will not completely iron out the microstutters. And to be honest: If you don't really look for them, they are not a huge problem... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
April 26, 201412 yr Well, curiously, sometimes this sort of things happen, and puzzle me..., after reading and replying to your post, and a few other, in the last days, where those micro-stutters were being reported, I myself have, today, get a lot of those :-/ It's far from being a show killer, but unfortunately I can now become a member of the p3dv2 microstutter fan club :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
