Day after day I come back to check the forums and PMDG siten for possible release and day after day there are new posts of quessing the release date. I think that by the end of the year, nobody really remembers this anymore, everyone is happy flying the bird... In the meanwhile, relax, enjoy the summer (finally also in FI) and if you dont have any better things to do, try the Majestic Software Dash.... Amazing model....

 

I have to say I appreciate the PMDG approach not to publish any expected release dates, as that will just lead to disaster. Just take a look at PFPX. Couple of times they have posted "it is virtually finished, we will miss the xmas, but shortly after..." well, 6 months has passed and no news rather than "it is virtually finished, just the documentation to do.." So if you are giving approx release dates, you would need to stick with those, otherwise people get mad about it.

well airdailyx know a bit more then others of some projects but far from right always.. the best indication from them is when you se a post like they hae done whit some of the latest stuff TBA ata date ot next week or so they did.

I'm pretty much in the same space - just can't be bothered anymore. If PMDG want to tease their customers for months and months, that's their decision, I just wont buy their product. It's all supply and demand, if it is available or a firm date is made available then I'll make a purchasing decision based on this, if not I'll spend my money on something else. I like PMDG products, their service and own several of their planes, but I don't like companies playing silly games with their customers.

 

I got the Majestic Q400, Capt Sim 777 and Airbus X Extended and I'm happy. There's more to life than fight simulator (though I really enjoy their products!).

They will make a firm date when they are confident that it can be kept, there won't be a stealth release. I thought about getting the "other" 777 but after doing some research and feedback from friends I decided its not worth it since PMDG is due within the year. 

 

People would get just as angry if they set a date far in advance and then blow through it after running into a last minute problem.

Completely accept what you are saying here, but I find it very hard to believe given their experience at this that they cannot give a very general release date e.g. Fall 2013 for example. If it came earlier that a general date people are happy. I'm waiting for some wise crack now from PMDG stating "it's ready when its ready" or "we'll release it in the year 2020" or similar (my point exactly).

 

A quick update every fortnight or month with a screen or similar if available wouldn't hurt  - this would keep their stakeholders engaged and less likely to complain about the lack of comms. Anyway, how they run their business is exactly that, their business; just making an observation as a customer.  I'm not attacking PMDG, just offering some feedback.

They can even blow through that, FSL projected a general time of year release for the A320 during the Munich conference and blew through that after which they made their regret on going that route very public.

I would love that too but then all the nitpickers get attracted to them like insects buzzing a streetlight at night which is why it seems that they only do screenshots when most if not all obvious errors have been corrected, never judge a work of art until the artist tells you its finished. Nothing is more annoying then having someone point out errors in your work when you are well aware of them.

What stakeholders? PMDG does not do preorders and we are not shareholders so we have no grounds to complain since we have nothing to lose.

A very general release date wouldn't ease the questions and speculations arising:

 

People would still ask, whether there are any news, updates or changes. They would still try to narrow down the general estimate. They would still ask time after time how things are going.

 

A developer's own release estimate wouldn't change a thing. Quite to the contrary, it would create further expectations which will be even harder to meet.

Anyway, as I said before, its their business, their strategies - I don't have to like them. They are extremely busy and probably don't care either way.

 

On one last note, I think everyone agrees AirdailyX is not exactly accurate in their estimate.

PMDG watches our conversations closely, so I bet they DO care.

 

Release estimates, IMHO, aren't professional. PMDG refrain from them - by and large - and so should do AirdailyX.

The difference between PMDG and some other developers are that they NEVER, NEVER, NEVER rush a product to market.   There is nothing that will hurt your sales more than that!   This ensures a level of quality that makes you trust PMDG with your life!

 

As soon as PMDG releases a product, I am certain that I can purchase it without having to worry about whether I will end up with extreme frustration due to the fact that what they promise and what they deliver are as far apart as the North and South poles.  

 

Writing a computer software application is one thing - to contend with the usual coding AND the enormous depth of systems simulation that PMDG ALWAYS delivers, must be a nightmare that I don't even care to think about, it will really give me nightmares LOL!

 

This does mean that PMDG will maybe take a little longer to release the aircraft, but once it is done, your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed.   This is what I look forward to and if PMDG release it in December 2013, then so be it.   I look for the quality of their releases, not the quantity.   It is their exceptional quality that keeps the customers coming back for more.  

 

Oh and reddragon - we are not fooled mate, you will buy it as soon as it released :LMAO: :Peace: .

That way it'll take months for the release date information to trickle down - not to mention the years 'til actual release!
