FSX.CFG description

Featured Replies

I tried Google, but after scanning a couple dozen findings, I did not find what I was looking for  :(

Can someone point me to a specification of all entries found in the FSX.cfg file?

Just wanting to educate myself a bit in what some of the more mysterious (to me) entries do....

Did the Google also - likewise found no general info but many discussions regarding specific entries, tweaks, etc.

Maybe you can pick up the gauntlet and put together an overview of fsx.cfg - a bit of a challange admittedly but I'm guessing others can participate.  Or at least for those things that you can't figure out and can't find on "the GoogleWeb" you can post specifics here and see what response you get.

Frank - there's a hundred-plus items in the fsx.cfg, and most of them are self-explanitory, so perhaps you'd like to tell us what - specifically - has got you puzzled?

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a full description of the all the entries in the fsx.cfg file anywhere.

Hi Paul. Nothing specific. Just being curious and wishing to know more.

I agree with PaulJ and Gerry (mgh) above.  Basically, the fsx.cfg is set up with several line items.  If a line item shows an equal of 0, that means the item is turned off in fsx.  If it has an equal 1, that means it is turned on.  Sometimes the line item will show an equal of True or False which should be self-explanatory.  The AVSIM Software and Hardware guide pinned at the top of this forum shows many of the line items, what the item does, and the various values.  These are the most important items you should be aware of and enable or disable in your fsx.cfg.  If I'm interested in finding information about a specific item, like PerfBucket=, I'll do a search for that specific line item using the AVSIM Search engine here or I'll go to Google.com and conduct a search.  For instance, I found the following for PerfBucket= - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ptaylor/archive/2007/06/01/sp1-tweak-of-the-week-or-not.aspx.  The information comes directly from the lead developer of FSX.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Jim

So you're just going to do it then=1

Highmemfix=1

[Magic I will support multiple cores promise]

So I should take out Highmemfix=1?

Hmmmm.....

oh no  .... Highmemfix was the only essential part of my 'key'

Every FSX.cfg should have HighMemFix in it.   It's a critical memory fix that MS accidentally ommited from FSX SP2.
