June 30, 201312 yr Now that I'm starting to do VFR, I was wondering if anyone can list some of the highest quality scenery with large coverage. I just purchased the St. Maarten/St. Bart's/Saba package last night and it's excellent but coverage is minimal because they're small islands. I already have Aerosoft Ibiza and Mallorca which cover entire islands. I'm not restricted to certain regions, though I do enjoy the tropical ones the most. I'm hoping to find something that's nice for sightseeing with spectacular graphics. Can you guys list some of the best of the best payware sceneries? Thanks Nature Boy
June 30, 201312 yr All of the MegaScenery and Megacity scenery. I liked California and the Mid-Atlantic. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 30, 201312 yr Author Thank you Jim. I've never actually looked into the MegaScenery stuff and just finished checking them out. I will definitely try them out. Coverage is massive too. I'm gonna spend some time going through them to see which one I should try first. Thanks Nature Boy
July 1, 201312 yr Misty Fjords, Tongass Fjords, Glacier Bay and VancouverPlus have all proved very popular over the years for pilots interested in the West Coast (US, Canada and Alaska) using non-photorealistic scenery. BlueSkyScenery offers an extensive range of free photorealistic sceneries depicting large areas of US States.
July 1, 201312 yr Here's the link to BlueSky: http://www.blueskyscenery.com/ Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
July 1, 201312 yr Author Thanks guys. I've just added Misty Fjords and Tongass Fjords to my list. Are the Glacier bay and Vancouver Plus freeware? I can't find them on simmarket. I already own Glaceir Bay and really enjoy it. It's payware quality. The Blue Sky stuff looks amazing, but I'm worried they don't offer night textures :( . All the screen shots are daytime. I really like doing VFR at dusk as well. I looked at their FAQ but they only talked about activating airport lights at night. I think I'm going to try Tongass Fjords tomorrow. Nature Boy
July 1, 201312 yr Alaska Cinematic vol 1 and 2 by Georender -- VFR France Flight Zone 1 & 2 - Rhode Island and Portland, Oregon area As suggested above, Megascenery and Megacity
July 1, 201312 yr Glacier Bay is freeware, as is Holger Sandmanns Columbia River Gorge. You might also look for John Patch's Victoria+, which complements Vancouver+ and is freeware. Download VOZ 1.8 from aussiex.org. That is the precursor to ORBX and includes the whole continent of Australia in payware quality. Download everything you can find for New Zealand. Tongass Fjords, Misty Fjords, and Vancouver+ are all payware on Simmarket. I've got them all - and love them all! Flightzone 1 and 2 are stellar photoreal sceneries. They've got all the benefits of photoreal with none of the drawbacks - which basically makes them perfect sceneries. I consider all of the above essential sceneries that ALL FS9 users should have.
July 1, 201312 yr Author Awesome! I'm going to be very busy flying around now. Thank you for listing some very high quality freeware too, guys. I never knew some of these existed. The France VFR looks very nice too.I'm going to download VOZ 1.8 after this. Thanks again. Nature Boy
July 1, 201312 yr Hi, although it covers no whole island or country, I would mention FlyTampa Dubai here. Furthermore, have a look at Switzerland Professional X, if you have a little more money left. (Although also on my wishlist, it's a little too expensive for me until now, so I don't know if it is compatible to various payware sceneries of LSZH or LSGG.) Regards, Harald EDIT: Oh, and I forgot Canarysim Project Canarias 2006 freeware - a little difficult to install, but looks magnificent. Look for Canarias 2006 in the "other" library and scroll down to the FS2004 version. Fits with the Simbreeze GCTS satisfactory. Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
July 1, 201312 yr compatible to various payware sceneries of LSZH or LSGG Yes they are Harald. I couldn't afford it either so purchased on credit card ... haven't regretted that decision.
July 1, 201312 yr There is also the former payware now freeware Godzone New Zealand sceneries released by Robin Corn here on Avsim. EDIT: Almost forgot about Antilles 2004 w/ patch 1 by FS Antilles Group, with airports by TropicalSim, LatinVFR, Delblond Christian and Roger Wensley to populate them. Also anything by Toni Agramont. For the Island of Tiawan search for El Formosa, (constantly updated many part download) Cities by SamSoft. Sceneries by Nestor D'Angelo. Terra Brasilis for SaoPaulo and Rio. City enhancements by Toni Hiltunen. Wonderful Madera by AeroSoft. And with all of the scenery you're looking at installing I would highly recommend dxtfixerX and AlphaSearcher to help everything run smooth. Tommy
July 2, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the additional suggestions :Applause: . I remember considering Switzerland Professional last year but the price scared me. I will get it, but it will probably be much later. I'm going to focus on the smaller ones first (islands, cities, etc). While browsing, I came across Austria Pro from Aerosoft. This one looks really good too. Thanks for the Madeira suggestion. I had forgotten about it. It's one of my fav's for VFR in FSX but I'm only flying FS9 now. I need to re-download VOZ 1.8. When I tried to unzip it earlier it said that it either didn't recognize the file type or the file is broken. I think my connection was reset while downloading. So many excellent suggestions here, I better watch my spending lol  . Nature Boy
July 2, 201312 yr but I'm only flying FS9 now Wonderful Madeira should also be available for FS9, I own it. I better watch my spending That's why most of the stuff I suggested is very good freeware. Tommy
July 2, 201312 yr Author Yes, the FSX version doesn't include the FS9. I will buy that one separately. Along with the great freeware suggested, a lot of other ones I also want are payware. Those are the ones I need to watch my spending on. Nature Boy
