July 2, 201312 yr I will get it, but it will probably be much later. Me too! I have already begun to propagate it as a suitable gift for birthday or christmas. By the way, when it comes back to VFR sceneries, I remember a nice rendition of Bratislava in Slovakia. Should fit well with Taxi2Gate's LZIB airport scenery. I like LatinVFR's concept of connecting an airport with a portion of photoscenery, too. Regards, Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
July 2, 201312 yr So many great suggestions and so little time to fly! LOL You are going to have a blast. I definitely echo the suggestion of the (now) freeware Godzone sceneries and Canarias, though the latter has one drawback which is that only one airport is modeled and the others are all stock. But still a gorgeous area scenery... I'm almost envious, as having pretty much maxed out with (almost) every good freeware and payware scenery available, it's now a rare event for me to load up something I've never seen before and get that WOW feeling... But with so many sceneries, there are many I rarely visit so I still get regular wow events when I revisit them - wow but just not in caps! LOLCheers Ian
July 2, 201312 yr Project Canarias 2006! My bad, this is of course freeware and not payware! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
July 3, 201312 yr Oh, and I forgot Canarysim Project Canarias 2006 freeware - a little difficult to install, but looks magnificent. Look for Canarias 2006 in the "other" library and scroll down to the FS2004 version. Fits with the Simbreeze GCTS satisfactory. Project Canarias 2006! By the way, knows anybody if this project is still alive? Once they wanted to build also Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, but obviously they didn't... LOL Cheers Ian Ian, I think a lot of us that constantly get add on's, tweak enb and other enhancements for FS9 are constantly chasing that wow factor. I still get it a lot when I fly and it could be anything from the way real weather looks against the colorful sky at dusk or the realism during an approach to a nice looking airport. There are times also when it feels nostalgic for me when the combination of flying over certain sceneries, sky color, clouds and water is just right. It takes me back to the days when I was a kid traveling on airplanes and being so amazed by everything. I remember wishing I could fly a DC-10 when I was 9 years old every time I board it. I just loved everything about it from the size, looks, smell and especially those angry looking cockpit windows. I never knew flight sims existed until about 3 years ago. This is as close as I'm ever going to get to one of my dreams and I'm very thankful for it. I know eventually that wow factor will become less and less, but I don't think we'll ever stop enjoying the actual flying in the sim. As you said, there are so many add ons that, even though it's not in capital, you still go wow even today. The good thing is, if we wait long enough until processors become monstrous, we can go through all this again with FSX on completely maxed out settings. A lot of payware sceneries include fsx versions so we already own a lot of them lol. This is something I'm going to consider in 5-6 years time depending on how processor speed move along. I have both installed but I don't touch fsx anymore because I have fs9 looking so good that the low to med settings I have to use in fsx doesn't impress me as much as fs9 maxed out. The only way I'm moving to fsx is when I can get a pc that can completely max it out and run in high fps like fs9. So I guess flight sim is a lifelong hobby lol. On to the Canarias.... I'm not able to find the file. I can't find an "other" section in the library and doing a search only gives and update available for it. Is it removed? Nature Boy
July 4, 201312 yr On to the Canarias.. As ever Google is your friend however the poster was alluding to the 'other' Flight Sim website. I'm sorry to say FS2004, FSX or even P3D are not the future of flight simulation. X Plane and DCS point the way to the future However I choose not to participate in the future. My head is stuck, not in the stand, but in FS9. :(

I don't think the wow factor will become less and less. I have it almost every time I (sim)fly - and this year is my 15th anniversary in simflying. Regarding the other library: I meant flightsim.com indeed. Regards, Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
July 4, 201312 yr Lot of great suggestions, but no one has mentioned the downside of many of these photorealistic sceneries - long texture load times, causing pauses and stutters. It can be quite annoying. I removed many of these because of that reason. I don't have a supercomputer, but it's not a slug either.
July 4, 201312 yr I agree about those ongoing "wow" moments. I think I can pretty much guarantee at least one FS9 "OMG - that is amazing!" moment every day... Currently rediscovering the fun of flying choppers around the magnificent FlyTampa Dubai scenery. *See the Rotorhead thread on this forum)... Last night downloaded two formerly payware choppers that are now freeware - Nemeth Designs S76 and EC120B... Definitely some WOW moments... LOL I would have agreed about the downside of some photorealistic sceneries a year or two ago but not anymore. At least on my system, following a few tweaks suggested by the Megascenery folks, I find very little performance difference even from incredibly dense photoscenery like the FranceVFR Paris scenery with Aerosoft CDG and full WoAI traffic. But like all FS9 performance discussions, "results vary." Cheers Ian ps. Happy July 4th to all my fellow FS9ers....
July 5, 201312 yr Considering buying Switzerland Professional X, I read that the FS2004 contains only summer textures and neither night textures nor autogen. Can anybody confirm this? (Not one word about this in Aerosofts webshop or at SimMarket) If it is true, I will probably not buy it. Missing autogen is not that bad but flying over green and grey Alps in winter is really a no-go. Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
July 5, 201312 yr Yes I have it, and regret having spent that amount of money on it. There are also some very strange gaps in the mesh and photoreal.
July 5, 201312 yr Once more thanks WingZ. Obviously, no progress since the FS2002 version! So I doubt if I was right to recommend it above; sorry Maurice. Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.

July 12, 201312 yr I'm reviving this thread to say that I just purchased KMIA v2 from LatinVFR and combined with the Miami Scenery from Drzwiecki Design it is a fantastic combination. Photorealistic scenery and custom autogen as far as the eye can see... A great combination!! (Don't forget to remove the KMIA folder from the Drzwiecki addon).. In response to the OP, this combination is one of the very best area sceneries available. Cheers Ian
