July 6, 201312 yr Author If you are running ANY version of Internet Explorer, go to the bottom of the forum index page (http://forum.avsim.net) and click on themes. Then click on IPB Default and let me know if you see a performance increase.
July 6, 201312 yr Author Running the latest version (22.0) of Firefox here. Okay, change over to IPB Default and tell me if it improves system response time for you.
July 6, 201312 yr Running IE 9 and I did not see a significant difference. There still seems to be a lag in loading the initial page so that I can sign-in. Let me check other pages load times and report back. EDIT: It actually got worse for me to the point the next page never did load and I had to do a CTL-ALT-DEL and kill the process. _________________________________________________________________________ Bob "roadwarrior" Werab Config: ASUS Prime Motherboard, RYZEN 5, 32 GB Ram, Radeon RX5700 XT, 2 TB SSD
July 6, 201312 yr Okay, change over to IPB Default and tell me if it improves system response time for you. Did that, no change. Just want to add, Avsim is the only site where I have this problem, everything else works as it should speed wise. Thanks. Regards, Joe Esposito
July 6, 201312 yr On IE10: delay at first screen for site, I just assume that's the software checking IP, etc., once in, performance is fine. Haven't changed IPB, don't feel the need to at this point.
July 6, 201312 yr Moderator I switched to IPB using my IE9 browser and it is substantially faster... ...actually getting replies posted the first time however remains pretty much hit-or-miss, with minor emphasis on the "miss" part. Fr. July 6, 201312 yr Well, as one of the 30 or so Tapatalk users, thank you very much for turning it back on. Using the mobile browser is excruciating in comparison. I assume a lot of mobile browser users simply have no idea how much of a better experience they could be having.
July 6, 201312 yr Sorry but got all exited the last few days but today sat7th july back to worse than dial up. i realy miss ussing avsim its gone back to so slow . Richard .
July 6, 201312 yr Seems that this is continuing to go down hill here. Taking up to three minutes to get into a forum from the main page. Have tried several different browsers and computers in completely different locations away from here, same thing. Becoming almost non-usuable. Regards, Joe Esposito
July 6, 201312 yr It is not a "jab"; it is a fact. Less than 40 unique users use Tapatalk every day... This really isn't that surprising, as I suspect that most of the membership accesses the site from home, not on the run or at work. Besides, the vast majority of flight simmers are simming using a Windows desktop PC.
July 6, 201312 yr For what it's worth, I pulled Opera out of mothballs and tried it....Things seem to be normal speed wise using this browser. Will see how it goes as time passes. Regards, Joe Esposito
July 7, 201312 yr Maybe its somethung my end, But Its getting to the stage where i am not able to use Avsim now as it has slowed down to the point where it is taking 1min to imin 30 seconds to load pages ,as of now some pages dont load. Whatever you did last week made Avsim more enjoyable than ever, Today i have just about lost contact with you all. Hope this gets resolved some how, then again if its only my end ????? . Regards. Richard Druce.
July 7, 201312 yr Have you noticed any changes since Sunday morning EST? Tom, Not really. It seems to take a very long time (couple of minutes) to get to the forum index page and have it display. Once I sign in, moving around the forums is somewhat better than it was yesterday. Logging out can take as long as three minutes. Thought Opera was going to be different, but not so, having the same issues as described with it now. If I don't sign in, the forums are all but useless as it takes forever to navigate around and just look. This started for me last week, up till then everything here was very fast. Thanks for your help. Regards, Joe Esposito
