July 27, 201312 yr Do any of you have an idea of how many active flight simmers are using FSX, not just AVSIM participants, but actual world-wide users? Also, does anyone have an idea if this hobby is gaining or losing participants as the years go by? I realize this info may not be available, but thought I would ask.
July 27, 201312 yr Can you please count them again? We need to be sure  Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
July 27, 201312 yr Author You guys are just yanking my chain. Really, it was a serious question, likely of which there isn't an answer.
July 27, 201312 yr Say that they have 40,000 people d/ling regional sceneries...and 3/4 get global...that's 30,000 x $100=3,000,000. As good a guess as anything. Less the costs of maintaining, buildings, heat, light, phone, salary's, profit and risk, supplies, computers, cost to use flightsim store distributors...etc etc. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
July 27, 201312 yr @Mark, A lot after that stunt with the Global! I highly recommend it! - - Tommy - -
July 27, 201312 yr A couple of years ago in discussions about Flight ORBX claimed there were no more than 40,000 serious FSX enthusiasts. Gerry Howard
July 27, 201312 yr I would guess that orbx are now getting a good return with eu England, Scotland and now global along with the huge back catalogue......
July 27, 201312 yr A couple of years ago in discussions about Flight ORBX claimed there were no more than 40,000 serious FSX enthusiasts. Which is why I used 40,000 in my calculations. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

July 27, 201312 yr Speaking as a 2 month old user of FSX I would like to think that the user base is growing, however I can understand why after installing and finding out that it does not run very well on their PC people get put off and uninstall it without giving it a fair try. While I really enjoy the whole experience I do also find it tremendously frustrating at times,it seemly needing a "nuclear powered PC" in order to get it to run smoothly will in no doubt put people off and unfortunately cost comes into the the frame too as not everyone including myself can afford the latest i5 or i7 processor running at lightning speeds of 4ghz, I try and find freeware items to add to my small collection of payware. It does seem a bit crazy that when it was released my spec PC was still 4 years down the road. The sheer number of add ons can be overwhelming but proves that there is money to be made and the user base must be good. There are aspects of the hobby that I would love to do such as fly online with others and join a virtual airline but don't have a clue where to start, but its like most things you can't become an expert overnight and its when forums like these really do come into their own. Having said all that when things do go right its a fantastic hobby which I really am enjoying! My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer
