Recommend a FAST GA aircraft.

looking for a GA that can do say 400+ KPH.  Not interested in airliners.  I have the Duke turbine and the Epic Victory which are great.  Anything like them but faster??

Gonna be kind of tough to get faster the Duke in a GA.  The Flight1 Mustang or the Milviz P38 Red Bull might fit the bill.  Or, if you consider corporate jets, Eaglesoft has several faster jets.  I heard that they're updating the VC in one of them.  Hope that's true.

What Ryan said...if you want to go fast, get the A2A P-51 Civil Mustang.  Get the Accusim module with it if you want really deep systems.  Be wary of her tho, that plane requires a proficient pilot as any powerful warbird does.  While the P-51 can be challenging at first, she is very rewarding once mastered.

Not only a great cross country platform, you can also throw it around for some great aerobatics too.  That and it is hard to beat the sound of a Packard Merlin V-12.    With practice you will be able to get it in and out of 2500ft type runways such as FTX's Darrington, Concrete, Harvey Field...etc.

If you want to go faster then you might as well get the VRS F/A-18E B)

This is an interesting topic, in that I fly only GA aircraft, and have found myself somewhat disappointed in the limited cruise speed, even for the GA jets like the Flight1 Mustang.

On a whim I flew the FS-Cast B-17 Flying Fortress the other night. Handles like a bus, not terribly quick on the take-off roll, but damn, it easily cruises at 250 MPH. This from a WWII aircraft with the aerodynamic profile of a brick! I guess there really is no substitution for cubic inches!   :)

And as Ryan indicated, the A2A P-51 Civilian is a rip-snorter, easily cruising at 350 MPH. This is faster than everything I have in my hanger with the exception of the stock Learjet (which I DO NOT like to fly) and the Blue Angels modified F-18 (which I LOVE to fly).

I kind of expected that the Flight1 Mustang VLJ would be able to pull similar speed as the P-51 Mustang, being a jet and all, but nope - peters out pretty quickly, much earlier than the performance of the engines suggests. Wikipedia says it is supposed to cruise at 340 kts, but my version has a big red bar starting at 250 kts (IIRC) and it starts barking at me to slow down. The upcoming Embraer Phenom from Caranedo might be better, but we will only find out.

Have others found the speed of (admittedly a small sample) GA jets to be disappointing?

Well the wiki speed for the Mustang is probably in ground speed. The 250 would be indicated airspeed IAS. At the right altitude and with favourable wind the citation can do 340 ground speed or TAS

Yep the Carenado TBM is decent.

For all jets and turboprops one needs to be fairly high (especially the VLJ's) to get the True Air Speed up in the 300 KTAS range...

I think the Eaglesoft CJ1 2.0 is a little faster then the Mustang?

There's also the ORBX Lancair IV-P, a pressurize version of the Lancair Legacy ( RealAir does the unpressurized one) and I think the IV-P has 4 seats. The RealAir one is still better I think most will agree but the ORBX one is very good too

Definitely recommend the TBM 850 if you want to go fast. The PA46T JetProp isn't quite as fast, but IMO a very nice addon.
