August 18, 201312 yr Currently, for $200, anyone can purchase P3D with little to no restrictions on it's use. I guess the EULA doesn't provide any restrictions?
August 18, 201312 yr I guess the EULA doesn't provide any restrictions? Very few, if you purchase the full COMMERCIAL License.
August 18, 201312 yr Commercial Member Gamescom 2013 is approaching. MS Flight was announced at Gamescom 2010... MS might just surprise us. Yeah, with a new Xbox One push I'm sure. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
August 18, 201312 yr In that case, if later versions of P3D advance to better graphics, and eventually 64 bit, that may well be the future. P3D can't be the future because it's built on FSX which is the past. It's like putting a bigger engine and leather interior in a Yugo. FSX: PMDG 744/MD11/JS41/736/737/738/739, CS752/753/763/C130, SimCheck A300, Leonardo MD82, MJC DH8D, Aerosoft CRJ7/CRJ9/A318/A319/A320/A321, RAZBAM Metroliner, ORBX Global, FlyTampa KBUF/OMDB/TNCM/VHHX, ActiveSky Next DCS: A-10C II/F-16C/AH-64D/F-15E/KA-50 III/Mi-24/Persian Gulf/Syria/F-15C XP11: FF 752/753, iniBuilds A306, HotStart TBM900 MSFS: Fenix A320, FS2Crew Fenix A320, FS2Crew Pushback Express, PMDG B77W, ActiveSky FS, Drzewiecki Design UUEE
August 19, 201312 yr Very few, if you purchase the full COMMERCIAL License. For $200 there are still only 7 groups of users.
August 19, 201312 yr Jskorna - refrain from commenting about p3d until you have fully used it. And to those idiots saying "oh prepar3d is still using the fsx code", they have the code in front of them, they've purchased it from Microsoft, so they OWN it now. What this means is they can completely revamp the code and make it 64bit, etc. They are slowly improving on it. Right now there is no comparison to FSX already, with the turbulence and wind effects on aircraft - all the naysayers are just way too focused on the EULA, yadda yadda. David Garrison
August 19, 201312 yr they've purchased it from Microsoft, so they OWN it now. Let's get the facts correct. Lockheed Martin and Microsoft Corp. entered into an intellectual property (IP) licensing agreement that allows Lockheed Martin to further develop the Microsoft ESP PC-based visual simulation software platform to better train warfighters for battle http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/press/2009/nov09/11-30warfightertrainingpr.aspx What this means is they can completely revamp the code and make it 64bit, No one's denied that - but Lockheed Martin has said V2.0 will use DX11 but has not said it will be 64-bit nor made any commitment to that in the future. August 19, 201312 yr OK guys. Let's get this back on topic. We're not comparing sims nor discussing EULA's. The topic concerns the hiring of a new person at Microsoft and what possible impact it might have on the Flight simulator franchise. Thanks. Thank you. August 19, 201312 yr Jskorna - refrain from commenting about p3d until you have fully used it. I have, FSX resides on my hard drive just fine, fully used. The new hire will mean nothing for the flight sim franchise in the near term.

Thanks. +1 That's the way to moderate a topic, no derailment of a thread, keep focusing on the subject and don't let any personal attack (if there is any) get the best of a thread so it can't be locked. I'm not being sarcastic here, I mean it for real.
August 19, 201312 yr Moderator P3D can't be the future because it's built on FSX which is the past. No, P3D is built on ESP, which was a radically different commercial "fork" from the FS base code. Not to be pedantic, but it is important to be accurate. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
