August 23, 201312 yr I have heard that not only is there no uninstaller if I change my mind, but that it also overwrites some basic FSX files so there is no 'going back'..... can anyone clarify this? If true Im definatly passing, tks Jay
August 23, 201312 yr I would suggest doing a search on FTX Global. There are several threads that have already had a pretty thorough discussion of these two issues on the Unofficial ORBX Forum. You should be able to find an answer in one of those.
August 23, 201312 yr People have raised some legitimate issues, I suppose, but beware of the smoke screen that people are about to lay down in front of you. Bottom line: FTX Global is phenomenal, and FSX is better off with it. If you use DX10 for some reason, you'll have to do some tweaking, but, then again, why use DX10 if you don't have to? Edit: I should clarify my last point. People using DX10 cite OOM issues as the reason why they moved from DX9. But there are plenty of ways to get a smooth OOM/CTD free FSX setup with DX9. The DX10 black box phenomenon is just another reason why we shouldn't be so quick to hang our hats on a "preview mode."
August 23, 201312 yr I've had to do one complete FSX install already. Got it back to normal again, but love'n the FTX! Duane Buck

August 24, 201312 yr Author Well, after getting this moved to a forum I didnt know existed, I see this has been beat to death. Too many problems and too much drama for me, I'll stick with what I use now Jay
August 24, 201312 yr whats the drama? I dont have it as I have all the world regions I will ever need with their regional stuff but all you need to do is install it. They are currently asking for members help to report the greenish hue sections and they will supply free land class for those areas. ZORAN
August 24, 201312 yr The most vocal opponent of FTX Global produces a competing product. And his claims were false. It does replace files but they are backed up and you can "go back". They should have released with an uninstaller though. There can be issues with autogen with other third party sceneries because orbx replaces the lookup file. This issue exists with their region packages as well. I noticed a few problems with ftxg and other autogen, but it was fixed by running ftxglobal in non hybrid mode. Hybrid mode should be used when flying between ftxg and an orbx region bc it will use the orbx lookup. Flying anywhere else ftxg should be run in default mode Brent Baker
August 24, 201312 yr Well, after getting this moved to a forum I didnt know existed, I see this has been beat to death. Too many problems and too much drama for me, I'll stick with what I use now The 'drama' is manufactured...you (imo) have no idea what you are missing out on, and not flying over. I'd have so say that this one single scenery product was the massive savior and life-support for FSX. I'd also say that if FSX came out with this exact global scenery and labelled FS(XI), and no other features, people would have bought into the 'new' version. You should truly reconsider, and enjoy what fabulous believable visuals it brings to flight simulation. To not purchase this product merely because of forum 'noise', and not what end result YOU personally want in the way of flight smulation, would be a serious disservice to yourself. My opinion...but yours alone will guide whether you lay down the bucks, and fly over a truly life-like world below the wing, no matter what altitude you are at....

Flying anywhere else ftxg should be run in default mode Brent, I also think FSXG outside of dedicated regions, looks (has more detail) when the Hybrid mode is turned off. Like you, if I think my flight plan will take me out of a region and into mainline FSXG, then Hybrid is turned on, before FSX goes live. I also keep Lights Vectored always on.... FSXG has made what I have always wanted to see in my (any flight sim product) personal use of a flight sim product, and no longer lament that M.S. left us by the roadside. This one product and coming OpenLC was the turning point for this hobby. I can't imagine not one single person who has bought into FSX, not having this installed...I simply can't imagine. Having busted the O.O.M. V.A.S. memory exhaustion limit, FSX is now my focused and prime flight sim. I'm also into Xplane, but FSXG now blows Xplane away in the world-grahics, and points between airports. Xplane still reins supreme for night operation, but only so far as road traffic and vectoring. Cities, towns, and land class now at night, or in daylight, the crown is held by FSX/FSXG. Personal opinion, but my opinion nonetheless..... Mitch
August 24, 201312 yr For sure, the FTX Global is a little bit to "greenish" in some areas, especially at this time in the end of summer (here in Europe) when we have had a very dry summer, but it's not really realistic to have the texture changed for every month. Overall, I think its fantastic. Running my FSX on a very modest computer it runs much smother with the autogen on higher setting then I used before. And the nightlighning is much improved. The buildings is also looking like they should, at least in areas where I live. There have been some issues with missplaced autogen, but it's easy to fix with ADE or FSX if you find a problem with that with an airport you use. I would for sure recomend this product. August 24, 201312 yr Too many problems and too much drama for me, I'll stick with what I use now I haven't had ONE problem with FTXG. It works flawlessly and perfectly on my PC. The world looks so much better now...

Too many problems and too much drama for me, I'll stick with what I use now You are right about the drama. Plenty of that. Too many problems? No, those that actually have it are either having no issues or very few (DX10 users need to rename a file for example until the SP1 comes out).
August 24, 201312 yr Well, after getting this moved to a forum I didnt know existed, I see this has been beat to death. Too many problems and too much drama for me, I'll stick with what I use now Smart move! You know the saying: "The grass is always greener on the other side."; well in this case it is true. The FTXG grass is much greener, even in areas where it shouldn't be. Mike Mann
August 24, 201312 yr FTXG has brought new life to my sim. My last flight was between Nice to Ibiza. It was one of the most beautiful flights I've ever had inside the sim. Stephen Asus Z170 Deluxe, 32 GB DDR4 Dominator Platinum, i7 6700k mild overclock, GTX Titan ( Pascal ) Win10
