One of those big ships definitely looks like a battlestar. That's worth the asking price on its own!

I mentioned before, Freespace two and its modding community. Did I mention the Battlestar mod? (Diaspora)  B)

My one and only experience, was MS Space Simulator, back in 1994... I dreamed about it being merged with flight simulator and later train simulator, into a single platform allowing for the full range of simulations...

I think the numbers side of you would enjoy Kerbal Space Program. :-)

Well it looks like XRebirth will be the franchise's MSFlight equivalent. It is getting a royal thrashing and I can't blame them, such a deviation from its core base all in the hopes of bringing in a different simmer.

Standard with every release, take a look at X3TC on release.. Loads of patches, I didn't even bother with the story line, just a glorified tedious tutorial.

Just like with FS, the mod community is what makes or breaks a simulation. Egosoft have provided the base platform and it is hugely customisable, let's see what the mod community can create.

Cheers

Bugs at launch are understandable, but in this case it's the game design that's getting alot of attention.

I managed to get some time to have a good read of the forums. I do also see a lot of complaints regarding the design structure. The strange thing is I have watched a few streams on twitch and it seems good on high end systems.

Won't be a few weeks till I can download and install, unless they have really locked down the source code and prohibited many aspects to be changed by the community then I am not worried.

Again, think of TC on release, now have a look at the mod forum and what is available.

This is day two of release, I am going to reserve judgment for now, if they have locked down everything for the modding crew then they have shot themselves in the foot.

haha, best review I have ever seen... Do not click on the link if you are easily offended and can't take bad language! Looks like egosoft did screw up! here's hoping the mods can salvage something.

Sad, but its so true. I'm trying to like it, but it's not X4. It's something different, reminds me of Darkstar One. Just it's sooo clunky, I don't have showstopping bugs or poor performance, it's just so bad to be in development for 7 years. Here's something funny, it's a 32-bit game that requires a 64-bit OS, DirectX9, and is heavily CPU dependent. So I took my FSX NI profile and took out the AA portions and left the framelimiters, etc, and now I'm smooth no stutters.

I have been following the threads from the dev and fans and I just can't see why Egosoft released this under the X name. I was planning on enjoying this weekend building my empire, but it will take awhile if ever for this one to catch on. They should go ahead and release code for a total rewrite. I want to cry now. First Flight, now X, I bet there is no Santa Claus at this point.

I guess we will all have to wait for Elite : Dangerous next year.
