August 27, 201312 yr (older 747-400s still have CRTs) And many are being fitted with LCDs as the CRTs reach the end of the service life. When this happens, the cockpit looks a bit strange as there is a mix of CRTs and LCDs. The same symbol generator feeds the LCDs so the "CRT" symbology is shown on both the CRT and LCD units. August 27, 201312 yr Perhaps they could come up with a solution to read the sims AFCAD and display it on the ND. I was gonna say. Unlike full blown EFB charting, taximap can be satisfactorily made by disecting the airportfiles... --Peter Fabian
August 27, 201312 yr Hardly going to happen considering the cost involved in getting access to the charts database. RR already commented on this in some thread. I am aware of the comments, but I thought that was more for an EFB which includes SID/STAR/IAPs. I wonder if the airport map could be managed by reading the AFCAD files negating the need for the chart source. It would also be specific to the version of the airport you have in FSX which doesn't always match real world configuration. Eric Szczesniak
August 27, 201312 yr The B748 was the first Boeing to get the integrated airport map on the ND. After playing with the real A380's a few years back I'll admit it's very nice and Airbus did a nice job. Godsend for some pilots! If you or anyone else need help let me know and I'm happy to help when available. I think the 787 was actually the first boeing with this feature, considering that the 787 flew first before the 748 did. Nanjul J. Dakat
August 27, 201312 yr ...like Air China 981? Wow! #What We've Got Here Is Failure To Communicate. I will have to send this to my next door neighbor who flies the A330 for Delta, he should get a kick out of this. He flew C-5s during the 1st Gulf war. Xaver Uzo
