This AI spoils it for me

Featured Replies

Ultimate Traffic 2 has mostly excellent looking models. The ones that are not as good (ATR, BAe 146, Bombardier CRJ etc).....I replaced with better looking AI models that can be downloaded from this website.

You could try hanging a few paper planes around the edges of your screen, would probably look better than what you have now.

those pics are woeful

Flying vatsim would solve the problem as well

Gee Wally - I was all happy with my MTX until you posted those pix. I'm tellin' Mom.

So even though the models are 'woeful' the ambiance is a far cry better than default traffic.

Next time I pay any attention to the AI plane detail, which is when I get a plane that is boring and doesn't need my careful attention multitasking setting up for flight while at the same time taxiing out, I'll probably barf up a little in my mouth. But I'll be darned if I'm going back to setting all the AI models up manually as I did in my FS9 days. It took me a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time to do all that. Sure, fun. Yeah.

Seriously, those are very good looking planes, @HighTowers!!!

Is it hard to add the traffic in a custom fashion?, I think that would be the best way but would not know where to begin.

Well, the basic priciple is:

- Download flightplans

(- Download models)

- Download repaints

(- Install models)

- Install repaints

- Associate repaints to flightplans by editing the aircraft_[airline].txt of the flightplan

- Compile flightplans with AI Fligh Planner or similar

It's darn easy and you will have it down after two, three successful installations, but overall, hunting down repaints and plans and installing them is very time-consuming.

I've installed 267 airlines by hand so far, but it was totally worth it. Pan Am, Eastern, TWA everywhere I look.

Ive looked into World of Ai but they are very behind, for example SQ is summer 2009 schedule.

Understandable, considering the amount of airlines and that WOAI is a spare-time endeavour.

It's not that flight plans can't be updated though...

WoAI is a good way to get started in getting repaints and models together, then you just update the plans with current AIG ones.

It's basically my only major concern with MTX 5.4.   The white airliners are particularly bad looking as well.

Rockliffe, double-check to make sure that you don't have the "simplified aircraft models and textures" selected in the setup.

Hi Alex, yup, I thought you may have a point there, but after checking, I can confirm that I don't have simplified aircraft ticked. Gawd knows what they'd look like if I did!

Thank you for letting me know how this is done, I might have a go at this when I know my way around the FSX file system a bit better :)
