777 Rocking problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had the same behavior using the PMDG 747. Turned out that A2A AccuFeel is interfering with the flight model in one way or another. If any of you with this problem have AccuFeel installed - tried deactivating it?

This [in my opinion] could be to do with the dodgy trimming.

I find trimming very unrealistic. And end up bobbing up and down trying to chase the trim.

Hitting the trim for one second equates to 10 knots speed change. The problem appears to be that anything less than one second has zero effect on trim. Therefore, you hit the trim for one second and it trims to fast and too much, hit it again and it trims the opposite direction, again too fast and too much.

Could be that even on autopilot in vertical speed mode, the AP is also having issues trimming.

It may be that trim effectiveness in the aircraft cfg would help this. I may experiment later. If correct the information may be of use to PMDG.

It could also be centre of gravity issues, this often causes porpoiseing in the sim.

The other alternative is that I'm talking nonsense, and annoying PMDG to the max. I don't mean to, but the trim issue for me is ruining my enjoyment of this potentially great product.

If you look at the tail of the T7 in that video, you can see the control surface on the tail, bobbing up and down.

The missing file in the AIR File: 1205- HORIZONTAL STABILIZER and 1206 -VERTICAL  STABILIZER.

May be that cause the problem.

Mo

Oh right, are you saying you have spotted a missing file in the air file? Or did PMDG confirm that this was missing? I haven't seen anything in the issue tracking thread.

Perhaps it's not meant to be there though.

PMDG may be coding differently than we are used to,

Have you reported this finding?

Sorry my  mistake.

Nose is bobbing whilst climbing. Using VS to control climb and can hear the engine noise surging whilst hunting for the dialled vertical speed. Have seen this problem before with a number of Addons where the custom autopilot controllers need adjusting.

Fantastic plane however!

Not sure whether to love it or hate it!  So far I am not really enjoying it at all as this pitching up and down is driving me crazy.  After paying $89.99 you wouldn't expect to have this type of problem.  At least they could have come up with some sort of hot fix?

Anyone get any resolve? I have been told by PMDG to do a reinstall of the 777. I am thinking something else is going on here.

I see an oscillation in pitch when I do a FL CH descent, then I try and decelerate at the same time as it levels off. Although the thrust remains at idle, it oscillates between -1200 ft/min and 0 ft/min.

Seems the flight control system is fighting itself.

Best regards,

Robin.

Yes Gents,

I have the same issue.. fine on the takeoff.. climb and when it levels out at my top altitude, then the rocking begins... on the decent its fine as well.. my trim is not working well either, it defaults at .12 all the way nose down.. when autopilot is turned off.. then watch out.. 6000 fpm PLUS ... nose down... hope we can get a fix...

Either way.. still a beauty plane.. way to go PMDG..

Hey guys,

this is what I figured out...

so when you start configuring the 777 on the ground, (and if you have a Cessna trim wheel by Saitek, you roll it down to configure the trim.. and the actual trim control on the plane to the left of the spoiler handle will automatically go full nose down.. you'll hear it go, TAP.. all the way forward... so what I've done was put my cursor over the trim handle of the plane and center it back ... and it all works fine...)

Make sure the trim handle itself on the console is centered.. not all the way forward.. not all the way back.. I just tried it my self.. and NO MORE ROCKING.. YAY...

happy flying

I actually tried to disconnect my Saitek controls from controlling any trim.  I though that had fixed it, but unfortunately it didn't.  I believe it is a trim issue.  When any of us descend in this aircraft, check out the trim control tab.  It continuously moves, I agree that it seems to fighting itself and cant find an equilibrium.

Guys - I'm having similar problems.  I started a new thread on this, and feedback thus far is nobody else is seeing this.  Anybody else in this thread find anything new that would explain this?

Mike Dessero

Count me in on that one. I too first thought that this was some kind of realistic modeling from PMDG's side, but then it stroke me to be unrealistic because it also occured in perfect weather.

I find the aircraft bobbing up and down whenever I use V/S climbs or descents. Especially the descents are annoying; when set to -2000fpm, the aircraft will oscillate between -1000fpm and -3000fpm!

No problem in the NGX where the descent rate fluctuates around reasonably.
