FS2Crew T7, More to do enroute ?

Featured Replies

I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start :( plus I gather that there will be copyrights to think of. I'm sure there is someone better placed to do this.

If you wanted railway announcements I could do that easily

It would be really nice too if users could have the ability to configure the announcements at least.  To add our own voice packs would be great!  At least cabin announcements and stuff anyway.

There used to be(and probably still is) a freeware utility out there for FS9 that would allow you to do this: S-Combo I think it was.  That was nice.  You could fly for Southwest and get the sort of funny crew announcements with no movies being announced(they don't show movies on their flights) or fly for Delta and have a more serious "by the book" announcement with movies being shown, meals served, etc.  Or, an international carrier and have regional announcements.  That would be nice if this some day made it into FS2Crew.

I think we need to be careful about turning FS2Crew in to FS2CabinCrew!

Pilots do not deal with meals and movies and I don't see those sort of features adding value for the vast majority of the FS2Crew userbase (just my opinion there of course, I don't have any data to back up that).

If you get in to the realms of cabin crew announcements, safety demos and the like (which you generally can't hear in the flightdeck from behind a bullet proof door anyway) I think you are opening up a can of worms, in terms of "Why isn't MY airline available?" or "MY airline doesn't do it like this" or "Why isn't there is a Dallas accented cabin announcements for my American T7?"

Of course everyone is welcome to suggest ideas, but some of these suggestion involve a lot of work for negligible benefits and aren't all that realistic. I think those FS Pax style features are probably best left to other products such as FS Captain.

Personally, I'd welcome more cabin and ground crew interaction, but only providing it's realistic (i.e. I don't want to choose what music to play on departure or when dinner is served, à la FS Pax).

Having said all that, I've no intention on buying the T7 so my opinion is probably worthless

FS Captain is a good complement to the T7 and its upcoming FS2Crew edition. If somebody wants to do so, they can configure FS Captain in a way to micromanage this stuff themselves.

No need for Bryan, IMO, to model the same features in his edition.

The only thing I would like it to offer is a bit of variety. Every flight has exactly the same crew with exactly the same announcement. On the NGX version you get exactly the same coughs when you get your load sheets. It would be nice if you had a selection of voices for copilots, ground crew and cabin crew and it selected them at random.

Voodoo101 - i love your idea of having variety - it would make it more realistic, like you flew with different crew on different flights!

second the idea!!!

We already have 3 different flight crews (EU, US, UK) and a different FA with each of those and ground crew that are region specific.

I know what you're saying about wanting even more, the problem is finding suitable Voice Actors.

You need chap who voiced the LevelD 767 UK ground crew, "'av a good flaaaaaaaaagh't"

First time I heard that I laughed very hard; it tickled me having a strong Northern accent in FS, especially when contrasted with the silky smooth pilot's voice!

No not necessarily more just on the button version a chance to select say a UK voice for the pilot and an automatic selection of say a US co-pilot and a Euro crew. Then next time you fly the UK pilot again and maybe a Euro co-pilot but a Euro crew and so on, instead of everytime you fly you have a UK pilot, a UK co-pilot and a UK crew. I know with the voice version then it would be possible to just select the different set and use my own voice but using the button version I am stuck with all UK voices or pretend to be American or something.

The PMDG T7 sounds and FS Captain are coming to my mind:

- different sounds/callouts for the same situation, picked randomly by the addon engine.

- example: "armed"/"checked armed"/"it's armed"

That way you can save on voice actors and still provide variety.

This is a great post, I hope some of the ideas make it. I have FS Captain, I didn't know they were going to integrate FS2Crew, that's fantastic news.

An idea I had was the ability to voice-command-open doors in the T7. This is implemented to some extent in the NGX, with the "doors may be opened line", but it would be possible to take it further, with "cabin crew, open door 1 left" or "ground crew, cargo doors may be opened", or even a cabin crew asking "can we attach the jetway" to replace the default Ctrl+J command. Although some of those may be a bit of a stretch, it would stop the need to constantly be referring to the CDU for ground operations.

Just an idea.

Anyway, looking forward to it a lot!

It'd be nice if the fo can turn the center tank pumps off if I'm asleep.
