How's the Eaglesoft Citation 10?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about getting the Eaglesoft Citation 10 to do some tranatlantic flights as well as others in the U.S. I read somewhere that it is a great plane but its fms sytem lacks full functionality or something like that. Does anyone have it and do you recommend it? Is this "functionality" issue a big deal or not? Thanks. Tom

1 word, AMAZING!Well worth the purchase, it's my Biz Jet of choice, hands down.As for the FMC being incomplete, that's true, EagleSoft has stated they would be developing a full finction FMC in the future as a seperate addon.I fly just fine with FSNavigator, so it's not a problem for me.Good Luck.

>Does anyone have it>and do you recommend it? Is this "functionality" issue a big>deal or not? Thanks.> TomDo a search of the forums and you will find a lot of info on it. As for the FMC, is it important to you? You should download the manual ahead of time and read through it. You can get it from the documentation section of the site.http://www.eaglesoft.com/You will find lots of people who like this plane. It is simply one of the most fun planes for fs2004! Crusing in your own private jet at 51,000 feet at mach .91 is great!

I own all of Eaglesoft's Citation jets. In general, I'm very happy with them (see my recent screenshots of the CJ1 in screenshot forum). However, having said that, there are two main issues Eaglesoft needs to work on to move their planes from very very good to superb: 1) the panels, IMHO, are poorly done: they are barely readable even at the suggested resolution. 2) Hopefully Eaglesoft will give us the ability to upgrade the Citation X and the CJ1 with an FMC.But, again, I'm very happy with my purchases, and would not hesitate to buy again. One final thing: never flown a Citation jet, but they handle very well. ricardo

I have to agree with you on panel legibility. The do have pop-ups that help but even then portions cannot be read. You can look at the manual and sort of memorize what can't be read though.Part of the problem is the while lettering on the gray background. That my be precisely as it is in the RW airplane but sometimes, "as real as it gets" doesn't work in the sim environment. Also, if a couple of the pop-ups were just made larger, the problem would be solved.

Hey guys.Regardless of what you've read, even from me, the CX is a great buy, well worth the money. The stupid mega-thread a few weeks back, should've been handled privately. I apologize for my part in that, but, you know how it is sometimes...I have every ESDG aircraft, minus the Hawker...the hardest part for me is choosing which one to fly.You won't be disappointed.

I bought the CX when it first came out, and had a lot of fun with it. I haven't flown it in a few months so I can't give particulars, buta) only those folks that are used to full-functioned FMCs such as what's in PMDG's 737NG will miss the missing features; :( it is a joy to hand-fly;c) the exterior graphics are superb. I normally don't spend a lot of time admiring myself flying an FS aircraft but this one begs it;d) I never noticed hard-to-read instruments. At the time I was running FS at 1280x1024.It is a HUGE upgrade over the stock biz-jet (Learjet), which is only barely tolerable when combined with RealityXP's JetLine4. (That is said a bit tongue-in-cheek as it is very framerate friendly even with JL4 - I fly the Learjet a lot when just casually knocking off points A and B and don't want to get serious about trying to emulate real-world flying.)All in all, the CX is highly recommended if you can find it in your heart to forgive a less-than-100% functional FMC, which seems to stick in some sim-pilots' craw.Dave Blevins

>a) only those folks that are used to full-functioned FMCs such>as what's in PMDG's 737NG will miss the missing features; It's not a matter of "missing it;" it's a matter of accuracy: the Citation X, as can be seen on the Cessna website, is equipped with a fully functioning fmc. Ricardo

FMS - I can live without it provided other parts are done very well. Eaglesoft's panels are unfortunately not up to my standards but clearly they must be doing something right since these planes are quite popular.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

>It's not a matter of "missing it;" it's a matter of accuracy:>the Citation X, as can be seen on the Cessna website, is>equipped with a fully functioning fmc. Although it IS shown in the promo shots on the Cessna website, Ricardo, it is nevertheless an OPTION that is offered, and NOT "standard equipment." In fact, anything other than the "basic flight instrument package" are OPTIONAL extras. It may well be that in the majority of cases, the original owners DO spend the $'s to purchase all the options, yet the fact remains that many of their pilots don't use 'em... :)You may have noticed that, even though the Citation X is capable of transatlantic flights, there's no HF radio present in our model either...

I bought it when it first came out. I think it's the best business jet out there so far. And it's the most "handsome" plane of all in my sim hangar...But two things:Kinda hard on frame rateNo FMC (I don't even think it's partially functional when you can't put in a flight plan whatsoever)I don't really fly it anymore. But still it's definitely a well done product over all.

Hi Pete, Have you got a FMC on the aircraft you say you have a licence for. Looking forward to seeing that licence. Best regards to you and all in Australia where I have relatives and many friends.
