September 10, 201312 yr Hi, Whether it be getting rid of those annoying multiple posts, self-deleting things we post in the wrong forum section, or simply getting rid of things that you wish you hadn't said, I really think a delete button would be a very useful feature all around, and probably also end up saving you guys some time too moving posts around. Would you consider doing this?
September 10, 201312 yr I second that idea, especially since multiple postings seem to appear more often again. Maybe if it could at least be time-limited like the "Edit Post" option? Florian
September 10, 201312 yr I'd vote for a 48 hour delete feature. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
September 10, 201312 yr Author I would prefer if edits within a certain time frame should still be allowed, but I was thinking that the ability to delete a post entirely should only be allowed if it's the last post in a thread. Once on some website I was in a flamewar and the guy subsequently went back and deleted all of his posts in the thread entirely, making it look like I was a nutbag having an argument all by myself So I think there ought to be some provision to take that into account. Likewise, when deleting a Topic, obviously the user could only delete it if nobody had yet responded.
November 25, 201312 yr I think a delete option would also be a good idea. Especially for duplicate posts, or posts in wrong sections. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
November 25, 201312 yr So who would get, and who would not get this delete button? You see, putting a universal delete button out there would just exacerbate the problems you wish to address. It would become a take-off (no pun intended) of the classic novel "Animal Farm", where two pigs engage the other animals on the farm to chase away the farmer. Then declare themselves the rulers of the farm. Only then to provide themselves with additional special powers and privileges, only to have one pig have his cronies chase off the other pig, then declaring himself as sole ruler...... I understand the issue, but IMHO the staff here does an excellent job of both policing, and allowing for a broad range of opinion that to this sport is both nurturing and protective/perpetuating. November 25, 201312 yr I'm not clear why a delete button would be good idea. Editing is fine as it is for typos etc.. If there is something you want to delete, do it before hitting the Post button. Just think it through first. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

November 27, 201312 yr This is one good use for the "Report" button. Just hit the Report button and tell the moderators and admins what you want. It's not just to report infractions. If you have a duplicate post, just hit the Report button inside the duplicate post and tell us to remove it as it is a duplicate. This would be very helpful to our moderators/admins who are trying to police these duplicate posts but cannot all of the time. If you want a post deleted, do the same thing. Hit the Report button and tell us to delete the post (we do not delete posts but hide them from others). We will try to take care of your requests as soon as possible.
