November 19, 200421 yr You are absolutely right with what you say.I have the same problems. What I do often with the PMDG or PSS planes is that i pause the flightsimulator, let the computer running, and continue my flight later on or the next day.Guy
November 19, 200421 yr Yes, I'm with you mostly. I look for excellent artwork and flight modeling, and leave it at that. There are lots of payware that fit this model and I like the self-installers enough to buy them. Great example is the PMDG B1900D.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Anyone that knows anything about the PMDG knows that it can be started up already to fly as well as cold and dark from the menu. I start mine from cold and dark and it takes me about 5-7 minutes to get it going, load a flight plan and takeoff. It takes more time than that to preflight a C-152 in real life. Another plane I fly is the ATR and it can also be started with engines running and ready to take off if one wants to. Somehow this thread got morphed into people making claims that the complex add ons don't fly correctly anyway, and when you take exception to this bizarre claim, the people making this statement start throwing insults. Like I said, Trolling.
November 19, 200421 yr >I think this was just an attempt to start a flame war (>Trolling).>Like I said, Trolling. Yep. The guy is nuts to put it mildly. He has no clue what he really wants. He wants to quickly "get off the ground" which he can perfectly do today even with the most complex "airliners". In another breath he complains about lack of "save" function for FMC yet we all know it takes (short) minutes to program one unless someone was born with both left hands. And "admiring" scenery - what does he want an "airliner" for? In other words he has all the tools and options available to him today but he would just sit and cry like a kindergarden kid. But we shouldn't be surprised - a similar post was here barely a month ago. Is it a Full Moon phenomena?Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
November 19, 200421 yr Author Well I have to agree with you that if you want to just jump into the PMDG 737 and fly it takes no longer than any of the freeware aircraft and if you have a saved flight it's not all that much more time to program the FMC. However it would be helpful to be able to save flights as with default aircraft in order to practice approaches or to complete long flights over a number of sessions.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
November 20, 200421 yr Would you really want a watered down version of the PMDG 737? If so, just fly the default 737.Granted I find myself burning the midnight oil as well, but it is something I enjoy. I have been using the ATR from Flight 1, and you know what? I actually do wish there was some sort of switch in the config program too disable the FMC, and use the GPS. But, there isn't and learning to use it has been a fun little experience. Although at 2AM I am usually pulling my hair out.To each is there own, if you don't want complex addons don't buy them. Pretty simple really.
November 20, 200421 yr Instead of shutting down FS9 and switching off your PC, have you thought about putting your PC into hibernation with your flight still running? You should then be able to switch on next day and continue the flight from where you left off. I don't own the PMDG package, so I don't know if this suggestion would work in that particular case, but it works with the Dreamfleet-based FMC in Eurowings 2004.Dugald
