Is anyone able to fly into London without OOM?

Featured Replies

Not having OOM is nice, yeah, means only that you have very little addons.

Incorrect!

On my most recent install after an upgrade I've never had an OOM yet.

Plenty of add-ons! NGX, sceneries, weather, etc.

EDIT*-----Ok yes I'm running at 2.7 (was looking at 2 wrong columns) which is straying into the uncomfortable zone but still should be manageable especially since my sim never loads the model (I don't ever leave the VC) and most of my airports other than ORD, DFW, and 2 other places are default with AFCAD updates.

A<380 love at first flight

Landing the Aerosoft Airbus Extended in EGLL I ended up with about 3.6 GB VAS usage. Any chance for transferring some VAS from the AAX to the T7?

Made another flight in the T7 with settings even lower than the lowest settings I had ever used before:

- cloud textures down to 512

- minimum cloud draw distance

- autogen completely off (zero)

- LOD radius no more than 4.5

On touchdown my VAS usage was 3.9 GB - compared to my 2nd lowest profile there wasn't anything to gain anymore ...

What happened to AVSIM

Not a single OOM yet with good settings

Landed in Heathrow a couple of hours ago without OOM for the first time.

More puzzling findings here:

I lowered my high performance profile (lowered quality for less VAS usage) to obtain some margin from OOMs with the T7 - no love: VAS usage with the T7 remains at 3.9 GB.

Made another comparison with those two profiles - and gained 0.2 GB in VAS usage with the Aerosoft Airbus.

So my latest lowest profile is "VAS-sensitive" with the Airbus, but "VAS-invariant" with the T7?!?

Hi Oliver

Just out of curiosity, what weather engine are you using?

Hi Oliver

Just out of curiosity, what weather engine are you using?

Still Active Sky Evolution. Cloud textures were created by REX (size 512KB). Weather was rather fair, little clouds, no. of layers limited.

Thanks Oliver.

I too suffer from OOM's. But yesterday completed a flight from UK2000 EGLL to Flytampa's VHHX with AS2012 and 2048 clouds and fairly high FSX settings apart from autogen at normal and absolutely zero traffic, with no OOM. Before TOD I was at around 3000mb of VAS. Usually I fly with Opus so wanted to know if that had anything to do with it.

O.k., after ...

- deactivating 17 "tiles" of photoscenery (VFR Netherlands, MegaSceneryX, MegaSceneryEarth, and more),

- saving the flight 200 nm out of EGLL, shutting down FSX and firing all up again,

I was able to land at EGLL with 3.8 GB VAS and rather decent graphics (settings).

Remember, Nuno asked about landing the T7 in a full blown FTX England with heaps of UK2000 "extreme" airports and other stuff around ...

What happened to AVSIM

I had OOM on final with gear down and LAND3 on OMDB after 12 hours of flight coming from Europe. I had to land on Rwy 30R, so my STAR takes me over the airport and completely turned around to intercept the LOC.

So basically it loaded the scenery twice as i passed over the airport and clears out after 12 miles from it.The scenery re-loaded again when i was on 4 miles final and that is when everything just stopped and the message pop up.

The following day, re-tried the flight, but this time straight landing to Rwy12L. The scenery airport for OMDB only loaded one time as i was 5 miles away. Landed with no problem with no OOM.

So any landing that the STAR will take you over the airports, scenery loads and reloads again...you may encounter an OOM.

A good example is LAX using the Moorpark arrival coming from Northern California, the approach will take you to SMO, scenery loads, then base turn over downtown LA to Rwy24R, scenery re-loads again and OOM will happen.

Do a straight shot approach from the water using RWY 6 or 7, scenery will load one time. You will not have an OOM.

My VAS was averaging to 3.75

Kin, whats your LOD, your TML and have you -ALL- sceneries activated?

David Benjamin

Yaffa,

Yes, all my sceneries are activated.....Fly Tampa, FSDT, Flightbeam...you name it.

TML = 1024

LOD = 4.5

Actually OMDB aint an OOM-producer. Especially with TML=1024 and LOD=4.5. So your situation becomes a bit confusing

What about ai-traffic? Other sceneries in the near of OMDB (landclass?)? And your antialasing, antistrophic filtering? Are they set beyond 4x? Highmemfix?

I have never got an OOM with T7 despite my one and half years of notebook didn't made for gaming or simulating.(Of course I don'use add-ons except pmdg t7 and 737 ngx and i get around 30-40 fps with a scenery setting of medium high)
