September 14, 201312 yr As per the topic, with FTX Global, FTX England, FTX Wales, FTX Scotland, UK2000 EGLL/EGSS/EGKK/EGBB/EGSS, REX clouds LOD_RADIUS 4.50000 and TML = 2048. Is anyone able to fly into EGLL or EGKK with the 777 without getting an OOM error? I tried several times, coming from EDFH, LEPA, LPPT, LIMC and i am never able to land. As soon as i have the airport in sight, OOM. I disabled (unistalled) FTX England, Wales and Scotland and i can finally, barely, make it there. I guess there's no solution for this eh? September 14, 201312 yr Deactivate the sceneries you don't fly from/to and give it a try. if you want to fly EDFH > EGLL, deactivate EGSS, EGKK, EGBB, EGSS, LEPA, LPPT, LIMC and every other scenery you have. You can also reduce autogen AI traffic, reduce texture size of REX clouds (if you use 2048 textures for example), ... Little question from me on the side... has anyone tried to disable the scenery of the airport he just took-off from to see if it's of any help in the end ? Vincent Caudron
September 14, 201312 yr Go for 1024 textures and your chances to successfully land will increase... Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
September 14, 201312 yr With 4096 in CFG and Rex of 2048 and utx gex ftx eng and Wales and uk2000 airports and pmdg I can land at heathrow with VAS of 3.6. This is with no scenery or airports disabled Stewart Cumbers
September 14, 201312 yr It's kinda "wrong" in one way to turn your simulator up-side-down to make an aircraft work without OOM. I know it's not entirely PMDG's fault, but they did build a perfect fit, 100% working NGX which can be flown into most areas without crash. I have not recieved any OOM's in the crash matters with the 777, but its no fun at all to fly into airports which misses alot of buildings and stuff after 8-10 hours. Too bad there arent a buttom to push which makes the 777 just a little lighter on the VAS. September 14, 201312 yr FTX regions take quite a toll on the VAS. And PMDG 777 also. So 1+1=4  I fly with FTX Global and things just fit barely...
September 14, 201312 yr As an update, just did the tutorial, and I had the chime dinging at the end of the flight, as I approached the gate at OMDB, scenery by Flytampa. VRMM is also by Aerosoft, so a basic scenario, two normal addons, LOD 6.5 by today's standards, FTXG and my VAS was slightly above 4GB...
September 14, 201312 yr I was able to do it. Fsdreamteam kord to aerosoft egll. FTX Global Extremely dense autogen Dens scenery detail 5m mesh resolution Lowest water detail Default lod 1024 textures The rest are maxed including AI traffic. Just to recap, i also did Flytampa OMDB-KSEA a 14 hour flight without any OOMs . Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
September 14, 201312 yr Also getting consistent OOMs here with 4.5 LOD and 1024 textures. This is with FTX England and UK2000 EGLL.
September 14, 201312 yr Commercial Member As soon as i have the airport in sight, OOM. Memory leak in the scenery. Find any landclass fies and put them in their own scenery folder WITHOUT adding the texture folder! but they did build a perfect fit, 100% working NGX which can be flown into most areas without crash. So you mean to say it does crash in some areas?? There are too many people still failing to appreciate that no matter how SIMPLE an add-on appears, TEXTURES EAT LOTS AND LOTS OF MEMORY. Add on top of that memory leak bugs in FSX, and you are just ASKING for OOME/CTD during long flights. with FTX Global, FTX England, FTX Wales, FTX Scotland, UK2000 EGLL/EGSS/EGKK/EGBB/EGSS, REX clouds LOD_RADIUS 4.50000 and TML = 2048. ...and you seriously wonder why it OOM on landing????????? The UK is a tiny island* so many of these sceneries will be loading even though you are not flying there. Best regards, Robin. * technically we lost the island classification when they opened Eurotunnel (puke). We are officially the western edge of mainland Europe.
September 14, 201312 yr Saving and reloading your flight during approach may help. This method sometimes helps me to release up to 2GB of memory, which has built up during the flight. Danny F
September 14, 201312 yr When they start producing aircraft that we have to reboot FSX to be able to finish the flight in a basic configuration (see above) is the day when I stop buying those products, as sorry as it sounds.
September 14, 201312 yr It takes fairly low settings not to 'OOM' there. I tested all my (four) profiles; it had to be the one with the highest performance (like in "lowest quality"). No drama at all; I set that profile up for planes that had been released before the T7. It's the same profile I need with other planes for places like N.Y. and Melbourne (Essendon installed, too, on top of FTX Australia). @ Nuno, any words on multiple cloud layers, cloud texture resolution, amount of photo scenery installed? What happened to AVSIM
September 14, 201312 yr Author Thank you everyone for your comments. I guess it's worth the small sacrifice to disable the FTX regions (except for their price...). It's a shame because i can even do turnarounds with the NGX without any sort of OOM and keep the LOD_RADIUS at 6.50000 and when using the 777 i can't even land. Cloud texture resolution is 2048. You know that even if you have TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD = 1024, 4096 textures are still loaded but only displayed in 1024. So TML is useless if you have 4096 pixel clouds as far as OOMS are concerned, that's why i'm using 2048... 1024 seems too low res. The only photo scenery i have installed is Palma de Mallorca (part of Aerosoft's balearic islands) and a bit of Portugal (my own product) which is still being completed. I used to have NL2000 and the whole of Spain but recently removed it when FTX Global came out. Now with the new LC and VECTOR products i might get rid of every bit of photoreal.
