September 26, 201312 yr First thing first. This is not my find. If you like using external views this is not for you. If you sit in the VC and never leave it like me 99% of the time....read on. What this does is losers the external model. You do it like this, Simply browse to the aircraft's main folder within C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes, and go into the Model directory. In the Model directory, open up Model.cfg and place '//' (two forward slashes) in front of the line that begins with 'normal=' It works for every aircraft but am only flying the PMDG 777 ATM so e.g my new 777F looks like this [models]//normal=PMDG_777_200F.MDLinterior=PMDG_777_VC TEST Orbx CRM Orbx KJAC Gate 8 I will let these speak for themselfs. With Model Without the 50 fps lock was just for these SS. So for me it's a no brainer. I will take the extra head room all day long. Enjoy. David Murden. September 26, 201312 yr Love looking around on the external view, admiring the wingflex on the bird , great idea - but not for me. Anybody know how to get rid of the virtual cabin ??? not my cup of tea at all. MSI Codex 5 10SC-262UK Desktop PC - Intel Core i7-10700, RTX 2060 Graphics, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
September 26, 201312 yr Good find but shame it loses the model I mean I do fly 99.9% of time in VC mode but I do like to take screenshots of outside model and sometimes look at it flying etc Stewart Cumbers
September 26, 201312 yr Author It's all down to if you want/need the extra FPS, like everything in FSX it has a price. David Murden. September 26, 201312 yr Great find. I never leave the VC. Someone else found that un ticking High Resolution 3d Virtual Cockpit in settings gave me a boost but only works for PMDG and screws up other e.g Aerosoft Airbus A320. I only wish MS would pull their head out of their arse and refine/update FSX to todays technology/code but that is wishful thinking...I could strangle the person who canceled MS Flight Sim meh. Cheers James McAleese
September 26, 201312 yr Can this cause problems? I mean, I could see it being usefull but if things like icing effects (if they are simulated), or the effects that turbulence has dont work...... Rob Robson
September 26, 201312 yr I think the only problem would be during walkaround... Great find BTW! I don't think i will need this with 777, but is good to know Zeljko Budovic
September 26, 201312 yr Can this cause problems? I mean, I could see it being usefull but if things like icing effects (if they are simulated), or the effects that turbulence has dont work...... Good point, I never thought of that. Like he said everything in FSX has a price! James McAleese
September 26, 201312 yr what happens when you jump to an external view? You just see nothing? Shaun OrtolanoTronAviation.com
September 26, 201312 yr Author No it has no effects on turbulence and the T7 has not Iceing effects and if it did you cannot see them from the VC thus the only thing you lose is the model from out side. What do you see from the out side? Really!!.......yes your right, you see nothing. It said at the top, you lose the external model. David Murden. September 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member I wouldn't mind getting rid of the virtual cabin. Never use it. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
September 26, 201312 yr you lose virtual cabin with external model in this case. EDIT: Virtual cabin is modeled only from external view from what i know Edited September 26, 201312 yr by B247NG Zeljko Budovic
September 26, 201312 yr Author The virtual cabin comes with the external model. So no it's not some part on it own. David Murden. September 26, 201312 yr A better way to achieve the same thing, without losing the external model, is tick off the Hi-Def 3D Cockpit option in the FSX Aircraft settings. Loss of Graphic quality is minimal if at all and you can double your frames. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
