October 31, 201312 yr Voice alone on another computer, thus simulating the airplane speaker or headphones if I use headphones and I absolutely don't want any dialogue box on my FS screen... I can see that. I only use headphones thought and I don't want two headphones around my neck just so traffic will come through one and once you learn how to talk and know your procedures you can turn off the dialog box and be box free for life. I use WideFS with other add-ons and it has zero impact to FPS or Memory usage on my main FSX PC. The more options I have to off-load work from my main FSX PC, the better (even with multiple cores). EDIT: you can also just run a line out cable (from the 2nd PC) to a line in on the primary audio/FSX PC if you want to avoid the cost of a mixer. Most on-board audio these days have the ability to accept additional line input.
October 31, 201312 yr I'm oriented on Pro ATC X, voices seems to be good, quite real vhf voices, but there is no demo so I can't try how it works. Does someone who used it can provide me some feedback? ProATC developer vanished since several month' There are some unofficial guys in the forum who claim that they have "contact" with Mourad and he is rewriting a large part of the program. Fact is, that there is absolute no official support. And there are several serious bugs wich makes a flight with ProATC a 50/50 game if you reach your target or if FSX itself is crashing. My advice would be to wait till there is a new version out and customers first reports are in. (normally now Roy jumps in and would tell you how great everything is, including support ... just kidding) Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 31, 201312 yr Voice alone on another computer, thus simulating the airplane speaker or headphones if I use headphones and I absolutely don't want any dialogue box on my FS screen... You would not need the VOX dialog box if you knew exactly how to respond to the ATC prompts. Just a click to activate your mic and speak your intentions. The dialog box is clearly for those who do not know what to read back. Vox is outstanding and the developer continues to update the product. Things like AI taxi speeds and waypoint altitude restrictions have been mentioned as future updates. For me, the choice is simple - VOX when you want ATC from start to finish or VATSIM when controllers are available. Honestly, I use VOX 90% of the time.
October 31, 201312 yr I still like PFE the most. Works very well, and love the regional voices. Listening to some youtube video's I dont like voxatc, way too robotic imho.
November 1, 201312 yr Well, you can use VoxATC with different regional accents. Ivona is great but not cheap. Win 8 comes with 3 voices (David, Hazel and Zira). David and Zira speaks US English, Hazel speaks UK English. And there's Haruka if you install Japanese language package. She speaks Engrish:) These are very good, high quality voices. If you want to buy 4 voices from Ivona, it'll cost you about 100$.
November 1, 201312 yr I understand, but even with 100$ voices added in.. It...Still...Is...Way...To...Much...Robo...Tic...I...Think.
November 1, 201312 yr I understand, but even with 100$ voices added in.. It...Still...Is...Way...To...Much...Robo...Tic...I...Think. Not really unless you're comparing it to real people atc like Vatsim. Ivona has one month free trial option. Try yourself.
November 1, 201312 yr Riccardo, If you're going to buy a ATC program you should consider Radar Contact v4. It doesn't have the silky smooth voices of the default ATC but the instructions are a huge improvement. Only you can decide which of those is more important to you. Have yo ever heard real ATC? It's not high fidelity. Many people who have RC4 have installed the MeatWater voices which are rehashed versions of the originals. They have even more 'noise' added but people seem to like them. You never going to find an ATC package that doesn't have some drawbacks. It's an extremely difficult type of program to write. That's why there are so few on the market and I don't expect that to change when P3D becomes more popular. I have run RC4 on a WideFS PC for years and can happily live with the voices including my own. RC4 doesn't assign SIDs and STARs but you can include them in the plan you give it. That's a decent compromise. In most other respects it does a good job but you will need to read the manual as it's a big move changing from the default ATC to one that does the job properly especially in areas outside the US where a different set of rules apply. The default only adheres to US (FAA rules). That's no good for Europeans and others. Hi Ray, Thanks for sharing the info. I made a comparison by watching youtube videos and Radar Contact appears to be very close to the default fsx ATC. But it doesn't appear to be voice controlled...I mean can you speak to the ATC or is it button controlled only? Thanks in advance. Ronnie

Ronnie Hi Ronnie, By 'close' I hope you mean voice delivery and not the quality of the instructions issued. I have never thought of the voices as 'robotic'. It's a word that comes up time and time again. Maybe it only sounds like that if you run RC4 on the same computer as FS. As I've never done that it's hard to make a judgement. They're certainly fluid enough for me. You can use It's My Plane to communicate with RC I'v never tried it so can't comment on how well it works. A search of that product in the RC forum should help. Here's the link. http://www.itsyourplane.com/ Just found this demo of IYP with RC4 on YouTube. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 1, 201312 yr I was never a big fan of the RC4 voices either... until I downloaded the Meatwater soundpack. It is a HUGE improvement. Another good program that allows you to talk to RC4 is Multi Crew Experience (MCE).
November 1, 201312 yr until I downloaded the Meatwater soundpack Where can I find it though? They don't seem to be available from sim stores or anywhere else. N.B. there are few links for download but I am not sure they are trusted.
