Time to simplify...

What with everything that's coming out I'm getting overwhelmed with it all.

I've become a collector of everything Orbx just to have it. Like a drug addict.

Don't get me wrong I think Orbx makes great scenery but lately I find I have too much on my plate. It's time to go into rehab.

I am dumping the whole thing...everything...and starting over again. Only this time without my eyes being bigger than my stomach.

PNW, PFJ, CRM, NRM, SAK, and when they come out SRM and NCAL will be it. Just flying Orbx regions and airports should satisfy my appetite and leave room on my computer for my other two sims; Microsoft Train Simulator and FS9 with California Classics retro scenery and airplanes.

So Australia, New Zealand, Europe, FTX Global and FS Global Ultimate Mesh will go into storage until I have relapse and get greedy again.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Ok.

10-4!

I use P3D for ORBX only, including Global.

I use FSX for UTX+GEX.

And P3D 2.0 will be Norway only, if I can afford it :)

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

To the OP:  if you own the products, what is the point of 'putting them into storage'? ...... You may as well have them installed, and even though the US products that you mentioned may be your mainstay, where you fly mostly, you could enjoy a change and fly AUS, NZ or EU now and again.    .......... do you Americans good to get out of the States now and again! ......... seems a heck of a lot of American simmers are satisfied to stay within the confines of their own country, which I've always found strange.    ......there's a whole world out there (and you've already bought half of it, so why not use it!).

I'll have to agree with you as I hardly got out of my own state (region), let alone get out of the US.  Now, since having FTX Global and the Orbx England scenery, I've been flying places around the planet that I thought I'd never do.  Greece has been great, along with Italy, Germany, Australia, Portugal, and England.

Noel,

At least put FTX Global back on as it's better than the default textures....in my opinion of course.

Me, as a flightsimmer in Germany, and thanks to FSX, I've found out there's an island in the North Sea, big enough for one of the busiest international airports, and the Tower Bridge, and Big Ben, and lots of sights and places more - thank you so much, Microsoft!!!

What happened to AVSIM

That busy international airport reminds me of many hospitals on that island which are made up of converted Victorian workhouses joined up by random foot bridges and corridors where the roof is simply some corrugated plastic, spanning the gap between two adjacent buildings. That new terminal looks modern but is far too small, and most of the people that clean it are fighting a losing battle, or are generally standing outside like most of the passengers having a cigarette. :) it's a funny old place that island.

Dave, one reason for putting things into storage is lack of space for everything you want.  As opposed to flying Orbx in England, New Zealand, and Australia is that I like to get fly my old propliners in California Classic retro scenery for FS9 and also drive trains in MSTS.  I need room for those too.

And since this Veteran's Day as far as this American getting out of the United States for a change, during my 26 years of military service I fought in Korea and Vietnam, lived in Japan for over 7 years, and spent time all over the far east as well as several months in Australia and a year in Thailand.

I kinda like being home now.

Noel,

Thanks for your service.  I understand as I am retired from the Army after 30 years.

Thanks Rod and you too.

My service consisted of 4 years in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and 22 Years in the Air Force. My last 9 years of Air Force service I was assigned to the Army as weather forecaster. So you might say I served in three branches.

I retired as an E-8.

Saving SSD space? Keeping things clean and tidy? I also own a LOT of Orbx add ons but currently I only have FTX Global installed and fly above freeware Norway. Having too much add ons can slow down performance too, so I've understood (loading times). I do the same with planes: i only have those planes installed that I actually fly, which usually aren't more than 2. Why pollute the HD and various cfg's with 'junk' you won't be using anyway!  ^_^

Thinking of how much money I have spent on FSX scares the living daylights out of me. Too many scenery packages and aircraft that I don't need (and never actually needed in the first place)
