I am not worried about the "dark" screenshots. I have always thought that FSX is way too bright in the middle of the day (and under cloudy skies), so a darker tone will be most welcome at my end. I might even be able to venture beyond dawn for my flights....

How can one look at these screenshots and not drool? I mean, "realism" is what we are all after, and if this brings me closer, then I'm in. I love FSX and have everything all nice and tweaked and added-on, but to get the kind of realism hinted at with Preapar3d V2 and its new graphics engine, well, I'll no longer laugh at those people who camp out at Best Buy the night before waiting to be the first to get the latest-greatest game system. Consider me camped out in front of LM's door. I'd be silly not to.

Me neither!

Now we have realistic lighting depending on the time of the day. FSX has the look of being noon during the entire day, now we have the change in the atmosphere corresponding to the time of the day, much better and realistic IMO

Anyone else find all the screenshots very dark and gloomy?

The tend to look darker than normal because now the light source is outside the cockpit and light can only come from the windows. This is the best approximation to how things look in the real world.

Not to my eyes. Those screenshots look more like a picture from a camera with very limited dynamic range than how things look to me in real life. But I hope it can be solved by setting up a custom monitor profile that can pull some more detail from those shadows.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

It completely depends on current add-on capability such as FSDT, FlyTampa, PMDG, etc. as to whether or not I'll be making the switch at some point in the future but I am completely happy with my FSX setup at the moment.

The aircraft in those screen shoots are Dino's freeware aircraft for FSX! That bodes very well for backwards compatibility!

I am very enthusiastic about this and will brake my wait and see rule when it comes to purchase.

Am I the only one who doesn't plan on switching to P3D?

Nope, i won't be switching either until certain Developers make the switch too.

HDR can be turned off yes, so no worries :)

Great, thanks.

Well that's HDR in action, especially with the back lighting shown in a lot of these preliminary shots.

No wonder I'm confused. HDR where I come from means high dynamic range, meaning low contrast, the screenshots definetly show very limited dynamic range with high contrast.

FSDT and Flytampa already support P3D.

Yeah I'm completely alright with my current FSX setup and feel no reason to switch unless my addons can switch with me.

I'm waiving at you already.....

Those that are happy with FSX should stick with FSX.

Personally, FSX lost it's luster over the past year for me. I haven't taken a flight in a month. The CTD's, the low performance at times, and knowing that no matter how many addons I buy it'll always not have dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, fog that actually works, autogen will still popup, etc.

All those graphics options are making me curious so I'll ask for something different. Can somebody take pictures of all the graphics settings available?
