November 19, 201312 yr I saw that vid. he's over WATER only, FSX maxed out in the middle of the ocean will not give you any problems what so ever on a Q9650.....was he using a Nvidia card? Did he has 1/2 refresh rate enable or not? Having it as an option is one thing, does it work in window mode, tearing?.....easy for a beta tester to answer. So you think he's lying? He's also running a four generation old 950 @ 3.2ghz with a 3 generation old GTX580. That's gonna be a low end system in P3Dv2. There are several videos out there. Are you witnessing tearing? Then why are you so obsessed with whether they are running a certain vsync setting? Do you think it's in the P3D menu but doesn't work? I'm confused as to what you are trying to prove. Word Not Allowed is a beta tester. Go ask him on his blog. I'm sure he'll answer. He's a thorough guy who tests all setups.

November 19, 201312 yr I see that you've already asked Word Not Allowed and he said they aren't allowed to comment on the technical aspects yet. This also explains why people won't post shots of the menu items yet. They can't under the NDA. Many thought V2 wasn't coming out until 2016. We'll survive a few more weeks of speculation.
November 19, 201312 yr with a 3 generation old GTX580 Darned… is my GPU that old already… :( ^_^ he said they aren't allowed to comment on the technical aspects yet. Good to know, thanks for the heads up!
November 19, 201312 yr Darned… is my GPU that old already… :( ^_^ Good to know, thanks for the heads up! At least you've got more VRAM. I'm still on a 570. Both our cards came out in 2010. I've gotta upgrade soon
November 19, 201312 yr I am also a bit surprised about the lack of info on some subjects, like vsync indeed, but also how performance is with FSX-like settings, if the default sky textures and clouds are different from FSX, the need (or not) for NI, does autogen popup or not… simple questions that I don't see answered anywhere. Ditto. Since 'performance' is such a huge focus for FSX users I'm surprised by the lack of quantitative comment from beta testers for P3D2. Comments like 'P3D2 will use all of your cores and all the GPU you can throw at it' sound good qualitatively, but that still doesn't tell much on the practical side. I've gotta upgrade soon With the recent release of the GTX 780 Ti card, the prices of all the other 780 (and 770) cards have dropped quite a bit in the last few weeks. My EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC w/ ACX Cooler, which was listed as ~$660 in mid Aug. is now selling for $530 (at NewEgg). This is a great GPU and it is nearly as fast as the $700 780 Ti (G3D Mark = 8291 vs. Ti = 8530). ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE

I tend to always buy graphics cards used and have never had an issue.

November 19, 201312 yr I have a 1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti, and I don't intend to upgrade any time soon. I wouldn't expect performance to be that good but maybe with the right settings turned down you'll be ok.
November 19, 201312 yr I will be doing what Jeroen has suggested. In other words, setting up P3DV2 to match my current settings in FSX, and then working from there. I reckon I will be surprised just how far I can go, considering that FSX hardly uses my graphics card at all. I reckon I will be surprised just how far I can go, considering that FSX hardly uses my graphics card at all. Yes, well, I am also hoping my GTX580 may still do me some good. I have to say that lately I've been playing some new games and I could play those with the highest settings without any problems. But well, just as FSX is a weird program, I think P3D will be weird too... But before I upgrade my GTX580 (which I won't do before I actually tested P3D 2.0 of course) I will certainly have a close look at the AMD cards: their top of the range cards usually are cheaper than the nVidia cards and perhaps, maybe, who knows, P3D will run great on AMD too! Since I have my i5 2500K running at a nice 4.5 GHz I doubt if I will update my entire PC (better said: buy a new one) because those new CPU's hardly seem to be able to reach 4.5 GHz... I might as well buy a new GPU and if that still doesn't cut it, I might buy a new PC around that new GPU.
