January 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Does it work with the a2a cessna? Does it have the latest navdata? Is it 3d modeled for in the VC? It should, as long as they modeled the size correctly. It does not ship with any navdata, relying strictly on the default navdata in the sim itself. Updatable navdata requires a RealNav subscription. No GNS is 3D modeled. None, zip, zilch. The 3D model is strictly a VC model-specific implementation created by the aircraft addon's developer. Ed, I was wondering, since I couldn't find it on the website, is this for any version of P3D (V2 specifically)? Yes it will work with Prepar3D v2. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
January 2, 201412 yr I'd like to see more screenshots of different pages. And more info about how you update navdata. Clicking that link just takes to me a pay page. Also as a 2D popup (because no devs have integration I assume at this point in time), can the autopilot take the source from this mindstar g430 much like RXP? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 2, 201412 yr Is it WAAS capable, LVP with updated navdata? If so world wide or local only. Do they have the capabilty of linking with the aircraft EHSI for displaying routes? Thank you
January 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Open a Garmin manual for the 430 or 530 and take a look. That's the way we created the way everything looks, based on the actual Garmins and what they display. The Navdata update is a program that gets installed which you run to check for updates. This validates you have both a valid subscription as well as there being an actual data update available. As for the autopilot, there is no legal manner in which to drive the FS glideslope needle value to get the default autopilot can follow a WAAS approach down.Regarding WAAS, the RealNav database is a world-wide database that contains WAAS approaches. The GNS units will provide lateral guidance in all GPS-controlled modes (LPV, LNAV, etc) but can not provide vertical guidance because the vertical component of the default autopilot is not settable (can't drive the glideslope needle). January 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member A question from a dev if you don't mind: will you be offering devs a 3d model/paint for us to use as integration? Please contact oisin at milviz dot com for forum registration information. Please provide proof of purchase if you want support. Also, include the username you wish to have.
January 2, 201412 yr Ed, I haven't installed it yet (working on some other things), but quick question. Can each of the buttons/knobs be mapped to keys? I'll be looking to use it with external hardware (Emuteq GNS530). FSUIPC essentially sees the Emuteq hardware as an HID device and can assign each key/knob. Can the Mindstar gauge be controlled via assigned keys? Thanks! _________________________________ -Dan Everette CFI, CFII, MEI 7900X OC @ 4.8GHz | ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional | 2 x EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (SLI) | 32GB G.Skill DDR4 2800

January 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member We don't make 3D models, and I'm honestly uncertain where there would be a point in our making a 3D model ourselves when each aircraft addon developer does their own 3D modeling for their VCs independently. If I am missing something in that regard, please enlighten me. Custom keys/events are supported. Keys would be like SHFT+CTRL+A and events would be like 0x18100. Events have the advantage of being shared cockpit compatible whereas keys usually are not. The place for these settings are in the GNS.INI file that is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mindstar\Flight Simulator Addons\ folder. We're starting to travel into support... and I'd prefer not to go that route in AVSIM's forums. After all, we're not paying for their bandwidth. For any developer having questions, simply email me at ewilson(at)mindstaraviation(d0t)com. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
January 2, 201412 yr Is it possible to operate past the end of the data subscription with an out-of-date database or is keeping a current annual subscription necessary to use the gauges with the RealNav nav data? Will the gauges auto-slew the CDI? Does the gauge code take advantage of hyperthreading, and can the CPU affinity for the GPS be set apart from FSX/P3D? I see the software (both gauges and the navdata) has an activation scheme that locks it to a particular PC...are the gauges and data transferable when changing computers? Is it possible/necessary to deactivate/reactivate the program for system rebuilds etc? I have no idea what that means... auto-slew?? The gauge code uses threading, no you can not dictate the CPU affinity... however, it checks to see what the primary thread's CPU is and will allow itself to run on any core/virtual core except the one the primary thread runs on. As for changing computers... that's a tech support issue and falls outside the scope of AVSIM discussions. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
January 2, 201412 yr As for the autopilot, there is no legal manner in which to drive the FS glideslope needle value to get the default autopilot can follow a WAAS approach down. Thanks Ed for the response. That being the case, just curious how others have managed to accomplish this.

Having several years experience with the real thing in my aircraft I'd like to see what this can provide me over and above the "other" one most of us have used for years. I'd also like to see how faithfully it recreates the real thing given we are referred to the real manuals. David Porrett

By auto-slew, I mean can the GPS be configured to set the CDI to display the desired course for the current leg, or does it have to be manually dialed-in every time a waypoint is passed? w/r/t tech support...I don't want to discuss *how* to move the software from one computer to the other...I just want to know if deactivation/reactivation and moving it to a new PC is allowed under the license and/or provided for in the software.
