February 8, 201412 yr Hi Jeff. Yes yes, I know the score. I've been flight-simming for 15 years around various forums. But the Avsim TOS that you speak about relate to 'violations' of those terms. My point is that I don't see any TOS which have been broken on the 'goat-simulator' thread, and neither can you, or indeed other members who commented on this particular thread (above), except one contributor on this thread who said that a couple of posts should be 'removed' and members 'warned'. The Goat-Sim thread was simply a lighthearted affair that generated fun, humour and a bit of sattire for many members. So that's why I requested if we could have an explanation from whoever did lock the goat-sim thread so we know where we stand in future. Or better still, uncensor the thread as a token of goodwill. . You say Avsim isn't a democracy, fair enough. But it seems to me and others that someone on the team, not you, took things a little too far in the censorship direction... or perhaps the forum has been hacked, and the thread maliciously locked by that means? http://forum.avsim.n...ng-up-to/page-3 If I had to guess, I'd say that Rick nailed it. My guess is that the references to PMDG, Milviz, Orbix?, the Mafia (whoever that is), and Putin got the thread locked. Even though I believe that for the most part what was said was in jest, using vendor names and bringing a foreign leader into the thread could be viewed as offensive by the parties involved. Perhaps they or someone close to them reported the thread and action was taken. On the other hand though I could be way off target. The only person that knows the true reason is the person that locked the thread. One of the basic tenets of the forum is that it remain apolitical. Bringing President Putin into the conversation runs afoul of that premise, regardless of how innocent you may have thought your comments to be. This is a multi-national, multi-cultural forum, and what may seem fine to 90% of the members may be supremely offensive to the other 10%. I'd say if you steer clear of comments like that, you'll avoid problems in the future. But Jeff, as I said earlier, there was no reference made to 'Putin' on the goat-simulator thread, or indeed to any political leader living, dead or imaginary. The Putin word was first mentioned right here on this thread by another member who (rightly) questioned the closure of the goat-sim thread. So do you perhaps have any other guesses as to why the thread was locked without a warning or an explanation? Seems very odd. Are there dark forces at work, perhaps? I've taken note of the comments here and taken into consideration who has made them. While this is likely to get my butt in a sling with someone, I've unlocked the goat thread. I do not take this action lightly as I respect the decisions and judgment of all of the staff here, just as they all respect mine.
