February 8, 201412 yr Watching the U.S. American movies "The Naked Gun" I/II/III with Leslie Nielson has done the trick for me! I knew he knew, all along
February 8, 201412 yr It felt nice getting away from the spotlight of Putin style censorship for a while, but then they caught up with us and goat got the chop. RiP Goat-Simulator. I've corrected my error in including the Putin comment with the original thread and in doing so, discovered that you are the one that brought it up in this thread. I'll kindly ask you not to do that. As Jeff mentioned, we are a multi-national forum and we certainly don't want to offend someone. As far as the "Goat" threads go, I've seen some pretty entertaining posts and am glad to see it continue as long as all know where the boundaries are. Hopefully this will continue to be fun and won't get locked again. Carry on with the jocularity.:-) Thank you. February 8, 201412 yr Moderator Nice beaver you got there! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An7AEzeTkxU I think that one's been around since Sqn. Ldr. Russ Bannock took CF-FHB-X for its maiden flight back in '47!
February 8, 201412 yr I've corrected my error in including the Putin comment with the original thread and in doing so, discovered that you are the one that brought it up in this thread. Sorry but you got it wrong.... Like I said before to Jeff, and to yourself earlier in this thread. The 'Putin' word was first mentioned in this thread by another member in relation to the goat-sim thread being locked. I simply echoed his sentiments, as did other members in their various ways.. ..That member must have (wisely) edited his original post to remove the Putin word, but if you'd looked at my subsequent comment, you'd have seen that I quoted him before the Putin word was deleted. i.e........ Seemed innocent enough to me, why the locks???Putin??? So kindly don't accuse me in public, even if its quite a trivial point, until you've researched properly. Thanks. I take your point though about political leaders, and I wont mention Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin ever again. Oh dang! I just did ;-) Carry on with the jocularity.:-) Yes Sir! ;-) (Actually I'm heading to bed soon as I've got a stormy drive over the English Pennine hills tomorrow). I think that one's been around since Sqn. Ldr. Russ Bannock took CF-FHB-X for its maiden flight back in '47! There's nothing wrong with an old beaver, mate! ;-) 'The older the cowling the better the 'flight' Take it from an old 'pro'. ^_^ .
February 8, 201412 yr I started the said "Goat Thread" but of course, when you start a thread, you clearly don't know in advance how it will evolve (if it evolves at all). The purpose of the thread was to show the humorous 'spoof' simulator in the video in the original post: "Goat Simulator". I did not foresee that it it would become many pages of Goat based humour, but I did think some comments were really funny and couldn't see any harm. Although I personally thought that by Page 3, the thread had run it's course and the jokes were getting a little stretched, I was still surprised to see the lock. I couldn't see any motivation to cause a Moderator to feel the need to intervene and to go locking threads. In my opinion, that's when things go wrong in Forums, when some Moderators start to implant their personal value systems and judgement, rather than taking a holistic view...... Eg. "I think that thread is boring now - so I'll lock it". However, we have to respect the Mods actions. And it's good to see some of the Mods engaging in a good open discussion, and even deciding to reopen the thread. - Good on you both for that.
February 9, 201412 yr Although I personally thought that by Page 3, the thread had run it's course and the jokes were getting a little stretched, I was still surprised to see the lock. Hi Dave, Thanks for starting the 'goat' thread, it was a bit of fun allright. By Page 3 on the goat-sim thread there werent any 'jokes' as such, it was more my satirical take on things.. i.e. 'Mafia/cartels' = an arms dealer perhaps?. And 'Goat-simulator' = a certain refurbished flight-sim maybe?. No actual goats were harmed in this production though ;-) http://forum.avsim.net/topic/434191-you-know-this-is-what-youve-been-working-up-to/page-3 .
February 10, 201412 yr Author ..That member must have (wisely) edited his original post to remove the Putin word, but if you'd looked at my subsequent comment, you'd have seen that I quoted him before the Putin word was deleted. i.e........ Yes there is an edit button so that is what happened. I figured let the guy enjoy his $51 billion dollar party in Sochi in peace, when that is over he may have some explaining to do. Good to see Canada leading the medal count as of this morning Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
February 10, 201412 yr Good to see Canada leading the medal count as of this morning Yes, well done. Those Luge events look plenty scary - take it easy on the corners ;-) . http://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/usp-olympics_-luge-womens-singles-training_002.jpg%3Fw%3D295%26h%3D231%26crop%3D1
