February 11, 201412 yr I am considering buying Aerosoft US Cities Los Angeles. I have MK Studios KSNA, anyone know if there might be a problem? Tired of looking at desert on approach. Ric Elmore
February 11, 201412 yr I have Klax and it is very good. However if you have a low-end computer and high-end airplanes, you may get fps slowdowns and stuttering, in addition to memory problems if you have additional open programs open like Plan G. The area covered is pretty large. I think I remember some reviews on the web. Henri Henri Arsenault

As far as my computer, I just flew out of FSDT KLAX in my PMDG 737 NGX with 99% AI never dipping below 24 FPS. Ric Elmore

Shez kindly fixed the autogen problem, it is no longer a desert. There is another thread on these forums where he mentioned it, and another thread in scenery design forums. I knew you were interested in a decent KSNA and PMed you about Shez's autogen fix, but now that I am seeing this thread I am not sure if you understood about the autogen fix part. It really does look incredible, definitely not baron anymore, with autogen as far as the eye can see. Ethan Edelson
February 12, 201412 yr You'll find the discussion here about Shez fixing the autogen issue with KSNA... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/429718-mk-ksna-remove-autogen-exclude/#entry2884788
February 13, 201412 yr For the OP, you should be aware that MK KSNA is not compatible with US Cities Los Angeles. You'll get double terminals, buildings, etc. around the airport, and as far as I can tell there's no way to disable just the US Cities LA airport buildings without killing all the other objects in Irvine.

There are homes where there should be industrial buildings and long term airport parking. I will take a screen shot and post it. Ric Elmore

Most of the airport scenery designers will focus primarily on getting the airport environment right not the periphery. Users will only notice the airport buildings because let's be honest we land and takeoff and spend most of our time looking at the airport buildings. That is what is immersive and that is what flight simulators are all about. Some designers will expand the sphere to outside buildings but that is bonus. Even the payware guys don't go much beyond the airport boundary. Let's give some credit to MK Studios that they built good building models and photoreal ground to at least get the airport right. To call it inaccurate because there are houses where warehouses should be and vice versa, and that a car park is not included is being unfair on the work of MK Studios. BTW I really don't envision any other payware or freeware designer ever doing KSNA as the MK Studios version pretty much plugs the gap. Shez Shez, I am confused to your reaction, I never said anything bad about MK Studio's KSNA. My complaint is with FSX Autogen scenery for the area around the airport is not accurate. I have lived within 15 minutes of KSNA for over 30 years and I am somewhat passionate about it, heck OCD is more accurate. Make no mistake, I am in no way complaining about MK Studio's KSNA, I love it. What I am looking for is what you see when looking straight out the cockpit on approach to KSNA 19R. My question is will the Aerosoft US Cities Los Angeles blend correctly with the Magnificent MK Studios KSNA and your fix? Ric Elmore
February 13, 201412 yr The straight answer is no, as The cities scenery only show what it says, the city area's not the suburbs. James (jaydor) "Let me X-Plane where I fly in 2020"

If all you need is that car park and a few warehouses then that is easy enough to do. February 13, 201412 yr I am not sure I understood your question correctly, but the Los Angeles scenery goes way beyond the city, for example all the way down through Long Beach (the ads should say), and about a dozen airports are covered. I am not sure how well it matches with other city or airport scenery. I have only San Diego in addition in that area in Calif. However I do have FScene and Ultimate Terrain, and that meshes perfectly with the LA addon (actually I think that the LA addon just goes over it and masks it. Henri Henri Arsenault

My question is will the Aerosoft US Cities Los Angeles blend correctly with the Magnificent MK Studios KSNA and your fix? The answer is no, it will not. The Aerosoft product already has scenery objects for the buildings of the airport (terminals, etc.) and there is no way to disable just those (there's no .bgl with just the KSNA airport buildings). As a result, you get (much-lower quality) models from the Aerosoft product overlaying the MK scenery buildings--it looks awful, unfortunately. If anyone knows how to make the two things compatible it would be awesome, though! Otherwise the Aerosoft LA scenery is great and really brings the LA basin to life. James
