Lockheed Releases P3D V2.1

Interesting problem that I have. Runs great. One caveat. I right click on the screen and it just closes. No crash, event viewer is crystal clear. Odd.

@ Mike WCFL, I had the same issue. Clean install on a SSD, had to reset the controls 4 times before it stuck.

I used to have the same issue with FSX before I gave it the ol' heave ho. Finally got the Baron in the air, smooooth. Using OpusFSX for live weather, moderate rain and 800' ceiling @YVR. Impressive!

Cheers, Craig.

EVERY right click does a normal P3D exit.

FYI, weather is working ... at least OpusFSX seems to work very well with v2.1.

But OpusFSX also worked well with 2.0 - it was other weather packages that had the temperature problem. Any experiences with those?

Anyone else not able to get FSUIPC 4.928 to work? I did the patch which installed well but with FSUIPC in the Modules folder, I get a/c init error. Remove it and P3D starts up fine.

Every new version of any FS means changes needed to FSUIPC. I'm working on 4.929 now for release hopefully later today. Check my Download Links subforum later.

Win10: 22H2 19045.2728
CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz
Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
GPU:  RTX 24Gb Titan
2 x 2160p projectors at 25Hz onto 200 FOV curved screen

Installed the patch after moving the folders as recommended by Adam Breed from LM. Took awhile to initialize, as has been mentioned, and then installed quickly. Had to reset the controls and scenery library as they went away with the removal of the folders. Tweaked a bit in the display to match NI settings but have NOT modified the new .CFG. The screen is smooth and sharp. The small micro-stutters seen from the edge of the window looking at the ground are gone! A much better experience without any of the .cfg tweaks I had prior to the patch. Amazing!

Beautiful job, LM!

(Of course I'll be trying some .cfg tweaks later as I do suffer from the dreaded CTD - Compulsory Tweaking Disorder!)

Great to see it's out! After reading this topic I will do a complete reinstall of P3D. I think I will even restore my clean Win 7 system backup so there aren't any traces of anything on my PC.

I also wonder if this new version has an effect on currently compatible add ons. FSUIPC will be updated, that I know, but I wonder about add ons like FTX Global, FTX AU (being the only P3D compatible FTX region I have) and the A2A C172: they all worked with 2.0 but will they still work with 2.1?

On my lowly GTX 560ti, I had a couple stutters on takeoff, maybe it was still loading, but it definitely feels smoother and I can increase my scenery settings a bit.

No problems here so far... I made sure Orbx Central was set to P3D default and loaded the sim, then shut it down and ran the patch, which took a while to start. I did think about deleting the cfg [AF=14 my only change] and shaders, but left them be and started 2.1 as normal... Its nice to see the rendering issues with trees, clouds and volumetric for are sorted, the latter two making a big difference to sky’s and distance. Also nice to see issues with coastal blending with some photoscenery fixed, though I do still get some odd reflections from the edges of water masks at low altitude...

Performance seems much the same, with some drops below my 30fps lock in heavy agn areas using FTX... smoothness is generally good, with the odd hitch, which go away after panning around and settling into a flight.

Need to do a lot more testing, but so far, so good.

Patched without issues into a non-default directory. I don't use any migration tools maybe that helps. No problems with right mouse clicks. FSUIPC still works, Virtuali Manager doesn't.

Shader issues seem resolved, I can load Orbx New Zealand without texture problems. Performance on old airport scenery is still poor. Other places it looks a bit better and smoother.

A2A 172 works ok. Also they seem to have fixed the PMDG 737, no more TCAS red lines but that was probably unintentional.

How do you set FTX Central to P3D default? I only see one option and thats FTX Global Default.
