It looks like DisplayLink drivers for touch screens are still a no go.

I installed the drivers after I updated to 2.1 and then opened up P3d. I got a notification in P3d that my 770GTX is not DX11 and it will revert to DX10 (?) - and then the P3d crashes.

Afterwards I uninstalled the DisplayLink drivers and P3d loaded right up.

Can anyone replicate can confirm this?

I thought this was on the list of fixes?

Other than that, it's nice! micro stutters for me seems to be gone. Frames are not higher, but much smother.

Manny, that looks great!  can anyone confirm if the weather engines now work ok?

I don't see any frameloss

Beta tester for SIMStarter

Everything loaded up to the max. Locked at 45 fps. Immediate amazing difference. Super smooth. I uninstalled everything and started from scratch. As using the patch didn't go over so well. I may finally be able to switch from FSX. Lets gooo PMDG.

Does prepar3d interfere with FSX at all once installed? I don't want it to interfere with ORBX or my scenery library etc, thanks wayne

No.

Side note: another interest happening, I go into the Scenery Library and select an airport and P3DV2 tells me my scenery library is out of order and asks if I want to re-order it ... I selected Yes.

My gut feels this was perhaps not the correct choice ... I'm thinking Orbx Vector 1.0 not liking that.

Hi,

Nothing but problems after installing the patch. Going to start from scratch, clean install.

Agree, Michael, very good results being reported with a clean install. There is just too much legacy FSX stuff in there for the patch to get through. Specially since the Patch does not overrite certain P3D folders.

Rob, are you using the patch or a full clean install of 2.1?

Rob, are you using the patch or a full clean install of 2.1?

I'm sticking with the patch for now, going to try to figure this out.

I've got a case of bad stutters right now ... so testing to see what's causing it.

Ruled out:

1. Aircraft

2. FSUPIC

3. AccuFeel

4. Orbx Vector

Looking at my nVidia Inspector settings next and maybe look at my Affinity mask -- clouds definitely make the problem worse but even clear skies and I get stutters.

FYI, weather is working ... at least OpusFSX seems to work very well with v2.1.

Had no issues with the patch, I got everything maxed on my new rig (780gtx, 4770k) and it's smooth as butter. I've also used the NI settings in the other post and I can finally fly through clouds without a FPS hit. Now I'm playing with the HDR and fog settings, not sure if I like the fog but HDR looks great and just eyeballing my FPS it look like I take a 2-3 FPS hit which is bad. P3D V2 blows FSX out of the water visually, looks like I'll be making my move over from FSX sooner than I thought.

And yes, Opus is working quite well with P3D V2 and the temperature issue has been fixed.

Downloaded both but thought I would start with the patch to see how she does.  In a word the install... flawless!  No errors or any issues and I have several addons installed.  Only error was FSDT addon manager when starting.  Just clicked past it.  But FSUIPC seems to be working fine.  First immediate impressions... smooooth as a baby's butt!.  I've got 100% World-of-AI coming into KPHX and the smoothness of the AI taking off and landing is breathtakig.  Planespotters are gonna have a field day with this.

FPS 40's-50's but I have not touched anything yet.  Looking to see what NI will do but I already noticed an improvement with the AA.  I was sold with P3Dv1.4 but this.....  build it and they will come. :P

Rob - do you have FSUIPC working with the patch? The patch disabled it. I reinstalled FSUIPC but it crashes P3D.

Will do a complete reinstall possibly tomorrow or next day.

My experience so far...

Applied the patch to existing 2.0.  Fatal errors after compiling scenery, or whatever it does upon loading.

Uninstalled 2.0, installed fresh/clean 2.1.  Looks fine so far, but my joystick button assignments and axes are not saving.  Actually, just changing aircraft (vehicles) seems to mess with the assignments as well.  I have changed the joystick buttons/keys and axes settings and exported the controls.  I exit P3D2.1 and reload and notice the assignments are not what I set them at so I import the joystick controls and THOSE are not correct!

So I have to keep changing the joystick button and key assignments AND the axes.

I'm going with a full reinstall, including Windows.  Might be a few days here, going with a fresh Hard Drive too.

Bah, I'll do a fresh P3D2 on this current OS while I'm waiting the drive to ship.  But I have tinkered with so many settings, FSX paths and registries, installed so much not officially compatible stuff, including folder permissions to get ASN working (which it just won't), that I've FUBARed everything it'll contaminate any new install somewhere in the OS.

But otherwise, I am Definitely seeing an increased framerate and smoothness in the trouble areas.   I think the main part of the trouble is FUBAR of my own creation.
