By support I mean bug fixes and new features, they are not doing either of those, it is an abandoned product. It is dead!

Please enlighten me as to what bugs need fixing. I'm all ears. As for new features the team were working on v5 when the software author's life changed and he posted a notice in the forum announcing work was suspended. v4 isn't abandoned. It is a highly successful piece of software that has won awards.

 

I have been a software engineer for almost 30 years (ever hear of Photoshop, that is one app I worked on), if I treated my projects like that my career would have been over a couple decades ago.

The difference with FS software is people do it in their spare time. It's not their primary occupation. As you are such a qualified software engineer perhaps you could enlighten us on what products you have made available for the community.

 

No reason to update the website? How about taking the announcement they posted in the forums and put that in the news? Oh wait, any customer who reads that (not everyone frequents forums) will likely not buy it.

 

Why don't you write to John Dekker and tell him on what he should do? You'll find him at [email protected]. Perhaps you'll do us a favour and post his response here.

I do not care about the author's life changing, everyone, myself included, has to deal with stuff like that.  We are discussing a product.

 

My career has been very good, and I made enough money to retire at 50 thanks!  I have no desire to write flight sim addons, but I did make plenty of shareware image processing applications back in my Amiga days prior to working on Imagine 3D.   

 

Why don't you have John Decker come and post here?  After all you are making all these claims that they monitor everything and are available to solve problems.  They do nothing, they have friends (maybe you are one, I don't know or care) who hand out license keys as needed and try to provide support.  But no future changes will be made, that means DEAD product.  If you can't understand that, then there is no point for this conversation to go on really.  

I will say this one last time, and this is my opinion.  RC4 sounds like a robot, it is dead according to the author no new changes will be made.  I would not buy that software for 50 cents, I would rather pay someone who is currently expanding their product!  I do not care what your reasons are, that is your choice, but don't make up lies about the competition in order to blow someone elses horn.

You say there was an update in the proatcx forums last week about the patch. Would please provide us with a link to prove our lies? Also, provide us a link in the RC's forums which states that RC4 is not supported anymore. Don't give us a link to the RC5 thread as it doesn't count as not providing support.

Go look in their forums, its in one of the top 10 last posts.  It is not difficult and you should be doing so anyway before telling lies about PATC.

To be fair, there was an official update post in February of this year! Which estimated release 2 to 3 weeks later, which obviously was another missed target date!

The last announcement was Feb 20th, by Clive, Not  Mourad. There is no recent announcement than the one Clive made.

Anyway, the reputation of PATC is so much in tatters, nobody would buy a lollipop off the man.

Hey if RAY can claim to be supporting and speaking for RC4, then certainly Clive is and can speak for ProATC-X.  Or does that only work one way?  When was the last time RC4 developers (not the testers, I mean the programmer) said anything besides making the statement that no further development on RC4 will happen?  I bet its longer than 4 months

 

I know you dont care about my retirement, and just the same I do not care about the reason why RC4 is no longer being developed OTHER than the fact that it is one of the reasons why *I* will not support the product ,which is *my choice*.   See how that works?  Trying to defend a dead product will not change my mind, neither will Ray bragging about being a tester.

How is that ANY DIFFERENT?  And all I did was restate what the RC4 dev has said in public, there will be NO FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF RC!  That is the truth, so I am not sure what you're talking about.

Wow this Topic escalated quickly. 

I'm sure this thread will eventually be closed if it keeps going this way.  Has it morphed into an argument over what is a "dead" product?  Is there implied resentment from some that RC is no longer updated?  Is there fear that some low information folks may read this thread, conclude that RC is dead, not purchase it, and the RC folks removing the product, support, etc. as a consequence?  

 

Call the product dead or not, I think RC is still a very good default ATC replacement for those folks that prefer a little more realism.  I do not have Pro ATC X, only because I did not see anything advertised that told me it had features better than RC that would've motivated me to purchase another default ATC replacement.  But, if I had purchased Pro ATC X first, then perhaps I may feel the same about purchasing RC.  

 

Hope that by now the OP has a good idea what folks think about the default ATC replacement products the own and use and make a decision on which one to purchase.  They're all still for sale.

Then he could perhaps explain why he totally abandoned his earlier ATC product after taking folks money and then resurfaces some years later with the same scam.

 

As I said earlier I am wide open to be sued here if any statement I have made is untrue.

At some point the Flight sim community along with the real genuine developers have to put a stop to folks like Mourad who promise the earth and then dissapear.

Come to Avsim, post evidence of your work towards the new version and then If you feel that I have damaged your reputation then lets go to the courts.
