March 30, 201412 yr I would support the C337 and Duke V2 recommendations.. both really well done. Bert
March 30, 201412 yr I just bought the Milvis Baron 55. I'm new to GA myself. Great. you will continue to enjoy it. I'm almost two years into flying the B55 and have not tired of it at all. With the area you like to fly I reiterate, you should also save up for the C337 for the reasons stated by a couple of us earlier. Fun to fly and about the best panoramic view from the cockpit available in a GA in FSX. Fun to fly and about the best panoramic view from the cockpit available in a GA in FSX. I'll do that. Many now have mentioned it. I've been using the Lionheart Piper Pacer for low and slow scenery flying and it's perfect. Never hurts to have another one though with a different set of challenges. Thanks again. March 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member One important question about Milviz B55 - from what i understand, there is a option to include Reality XP 430 and 530 waas. But, can i add 430 only? I will get 530 too, but not this month... Yes. I only have the RXP 430, and I've added that. I can't recall atm exactly what the procedure was, but I do know that I have (only) the 430 installed. March 31, 201412 yr I'll be flying primarily in ORBYX PNW. Hi Brian, Another note relevant to the area mentioned above. Rick Keller uploaded a very nice add-on Troutdale (Oregon) airport (KTTD). It is in the library updates today. I downloaded and installed it and took a look. Its very good. April 6, 201412 yr Author Thanks FPpilot. I did install the KTTD add-on. Very nice. Just one more though here. Although not necessarily a GA AC, the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended looks very intriguing. With it's wing above, it looks as though it would be great for sight seeing in Orbyx PNW. Sure, it's different form the other fine models mentioned in this thread, but those who have any of the other AC talked about here, can you compare the general quality of those to the Twin Otter Extended. I'm happy to pay for quality. I just don't want to spend $$ on anything less. I did buy the Milvis Baron and very impressed by it. Realistic night lighting, although minor, is important to me. Thanks much. Brian Brian Green
April 6, 201412 yr The Twotter is very well done, but switching from a Baron to a Twin Otter is like switching from a BMW 300 series to a Dump Truck... B) No quite what I would choose for sightseeing.. the 337 is better in that regard. Bert
April 6, 201412 yr Commercial Member Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended looks very intriguing. With it's wing above, it looks as though it would be great for sight seeing in Orbyx PNW. Sure, it's different form the other fine models mentioned in this thread, but those who have any of the other AC talked about here, can you compare the general quality of those to the Twin Otter Extended. The Twin Otter Extended is extremely well done in my opinion, and is a great representation of that particular plane. It also offers a lot of value for the price, since it includes both the -100 and -300 models, as well as floats, skis, etc. It offers a decent amount of systems depth, and has a great interactive checklist that allows you to work your way through it simply by clicking the items (it then automatically performs that item). It happens to be one of my favorite planes in FSX. The only possible negative that I can think of is that the devs refused to look at in-VC RXP compatibility, which was slightly disappointing to me at the time, but I've largely forgiven and forgotten about, since the package is so great. I'm also a very big fan of the RL DHC-6, so I might be a bit biased, but it was one of my most anticipated releases of last year and it really didn't let me down. That said, Bert is exactly correct; it's not a casual, luxury 'sightseer'. The 337 is far superior in the regard, as well as being easier to stay on top of since it isn't as in-depth, and has all the stuff you need to scan easily within your view. The Twotter has a very utilitarian cockpit which, although might be easy to scan in RL, requires a bit more viewpoint shifting and panning in FSX. For example, you're never going to be keeping an easy eye on the GPS in the Twotter without opening it in a 2d window. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
April 6, 201412 yr The Twotter is amazing, just completely different from a GA twin. I still wonder how they got it to look so good (also especially the VC) with no discernible frame rate impact. The F1 King Air is the plane I'd take with me on a remote island, because its so widely usable, fast, great G1000 implementation, perfect IFR tourer, a challenge to handle flawlessly consistently, very well done. Not a VFR sightseeing plane though, the Twotter is actually better for that imo. The KA is heavy on frames and memory. The best pure sightseeing plane I've found so far is the RA Lancair Legacy. Speed wise if leaves normal GA twins the dust, very easy to handle, great visibility, can get in and out of small airports (small for american sensibilities). Oh and for anyone shifting VC viewpoints with keys or mouse: get TrackIR. It's the single most game-changing piece of kit short of Oculus, for a simmer.
April 6, 201412 yr Author Thanks everyone, Just the type of feedback I'm looking for that will help in decision making. There are just so many different ways to spend money in flight sim. this type of feedback really helps. The more, the merrier. Brian Green
April 6, 201412 yr Waiting for the Milviz KA350i. Looks extremely promising! The F1 has the G1000 and I'd want something different!
April 6, 201412 yr Waiting for the Milviz KA350i. Looks extremely promising! The F1 has the G1000 and I'd want something different! Everyone to his own of course, but that G1000 is actually what makes the F1 KA worth the while. But the Milviz is going to be good too, no question about that.
April 6, 201412 yr My vote goes to the RealAir Beech Duke 2.0, masterpiece if there ever was one for a twin piston, and its also pressurized for high altitude flying! If you are willing to wait, the king of them all looks to be the Milviz King Air 350i/s
