Drzewiecki New York Airports released!

Featured Replies

I think in terms of overall detail and quality FSDT has an edge, but it's nice that DD has the latests layout, and the quality is very nice.  Checkout the screens on Simmarket, and I'll try to upload some of mine.

Hi Luis,

Thank you for your response. I would like some more insight. For example are you running with New York City X or without. How is the performance without New York City X with AI running.

Also do you have the option of selecting and deselecting the airport sceneries from the scenery library ?

If so, is there an improvement in performance by deactivating certain airports.

Finally, is there an option to reduce the texture resolution to lower settings.

Thanks.

How does JFK look at night? New York City X looked awful at night with the strange red glow instead of proper night textures and lights. This scenery package is a great price, even though I only fly into JFK looking at the other airports on approach is worth the money since they all come as a package around the same price as FSDT JFK!

Just saw this on the Drzewiecki website forum.

Quote: Is it possible to remove airports from the full package in the scenery library to save some memory?

YES. It is possible to select which airports are currently active. Everything is actually described in the manual.

Freeware developer Pompeii, Italy and Mount Vesuvius (pompeii_italy.zip) and A380 Flight plans (ai_a380_flightplans_redux.zip).

You can activate the airports individually.  I actually use the freeware scenery config editor to deactivate all airport add-ons, except my origin and destination.  It's an extra step, but it's quick and helps with VAS usage.  Now, if you want to hop between all NYC area airports in one session, then by all means keep them turned on.

NYC X definitely needs to be off.  It's a VAS and FPS killer for me.  I only use NYC X for default general aviation aircraft.

The package has no option to reduce texture size.

I'm about to try a flight using one of my add-on aircraft to test performance.  So I'll get back to your with more data.

Looking at the other airports on approach is something I had not thought of.

When landing EWR on the 4s you pass over LDJ. (Part of the airport was converted into a mall)

When coming from the south to land EWR on the 22s (or circle to land 29) you usually are vectored to pass Mmu and Cdw. As you begin the turn to final, you'll overfly Teb (near the football stadium)

Not sure whAt you'll overfly from LGA or JFK. I do remember skully of USAir saying he was tempted to try to glide to Teb after his engines were lost leaving LGA.

So umm, they called it New York Airports yet 4 out of the 6 are actually New Jersey airports? yea.

Would be nice to see someone do alot more NY airports...like those on Long Island, Westchester and other upstate counties.

On any flight booking websites, KEWR shows as New York, I just booked a flight yesterday to Newark yesterday

Looking at air daily x reader comments, not sounding good. (Oom, bad frames) I think I'll try the demo first

I'd like a report from someone who crosses the Atlantic in the PMDG 777X, and lands at one of the airports with all of them active. Will you get an OOM? I am saving my money until middle of next month and will wait and see. The screenshots look nice though. I hope there is good detail in the cargo areas of JFK.

+1  There a ton of screen shots there.  Interested in how this works in regard to frame rates with FSDT NYC with their KJFK, KLGA, and KEWR all active?  Currently using FSDT with  Blueprint's KJFK and GMAN's photo real KLGA and its pretty sluggish. Also will be interesting to see where the boundaries of the KJFK scenery are with regard to the screenshots on Simmarket.  Those screenshots obviously have their NYC X in use.

Posted this over at DD's forum as well for the dev's to see. Figured I cross post for those interested:

Bought this tonight and had a flight up from KIAD to KJFK. Couple things I saw right away:

1. No white "rabbit" lights for the VOR 13 L/R approach. Look up the chart and see what I mean. Makes it very hard after crossing CRI VOR to land without the lead in lights.

2. The yellow gate signs that are above the gates at Terminal 4 for gates 28 and 30 are messed up. It is blank for gate 28 and only shows the 3 for gate 30. May want to verify all the others are working ok.

For frame rates, first off I am running a I7 975...very old yes I know. I have a 4GB GTX 680FTW card though so that helps. I run DX10 as well with Steve's Scenery Fixer. I had JFK/EWR/LGA all activated and the three other ones deactivated. I run FTX Global and UTX with FSGenesis mesh. That's it for the NY region. My frames were from 10-15 with the PMDG NGX. Not as good as one would hope (I get 20+ at most other FSDT/Flightbeam/Fly Tampa) stuff.

Having said that, it will work for me. I like the that the ground textures are crisper and more clear at JFK than the FSDT version. I also like the fact that Terminal 3 is gone in your scenery which more accurately reflects current conditions. And lastly, you guys have the best LGA/EWR available. I would hope that somehow you guys can work and massage it to give us some more frames and lower VAS but it will do for now. No telling what a transatlantic with the PMDG 777 will do though.

Interesting that the guy said that.  It's is one of those FSXisms.  RW, the 'rabbit' is, generally. on when vis is at or below 3 miles.  Maybe someday a sim will set the lights based on conditions.

I think he also said "lead in" lights which is what I'd call them

You're almost right though about the rabbit. Official name is Sequenced Flashing Lights (we turn them on when vis is IFR less than 3)

Can the NYC airports be installed and used without issue if you do not want NYC X (City)?
