August 28, 201411 yr Gentlemen just curious if one of you have the issue when looking side views or top view if you have stutters.... Because I have and tried a lot to solve the issue but at this point the first in my virtual aviation history no go for me :( New full install instead of the update deleted all required remaining folders after de-install of V2.2....Have great FPS and clear sharp textures and even headroom in the GPU memory department. Only stutters Due to the above fact parked the software in the virtual hanger Any ideas guys? (Or is this version still not optimized besides the shadow terrain bug).. FSX DX9 and DX10 (scenery fixer 2.3) stutter free and smooth sailing... Lol it's at least good to check my local system again :-) - Hardware: CPU throttling no issue running stable and perfect in FSX and benchmark plus of course prime95 GPU throttling no issue running factory OC and perfect FSX and benchmarks (Valley) GPU boost works fine from 1084 to 1201mhz clock (going to try and disable boost) Memory tested with memtest86 and no errors Mobo fine SSD drives tested and running perfect in trim HD no errors and defrag (O&O) Power supply no error or voltage issues Tested with HT on and off - Software Latest drivers mobo and intel Nvidia 337.88 tried also the 335.23 Sound latest realtek drivers SSD latest No registry issues No virus software conflict No conflicts IRQ no latency issues hence it's low :-) Benchmark programs high scores and different software running fine and fast... Hardware: MSI mobo Z97 gaming 5 N770TF 2GD5/OC memory CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 8GB I7-4770K @4.3 WD HD 1TB and 2 SSD Samsung 840 EVO at 6gb ports AHCI Power supply TX850 with dedicated 12V rail 70A Resolution Led monitor 1920 * 1080 via HDMI FSX and Predpar3D both have a dedicated SSD with at least 30% free Thanks, Cheers, André
August 28, 201411 yr Hi Awf. Suffer this myself big time so very disappointing given that performance was the key to this release. However LM are working hard to improve it all the time, the one thing I have noticed and reported to LM is if you run with windows Aero I get stutters every few seconds looking sideways and banking. If you run normal desktop mode the stutters seems to go but you get the dreadful tearing associated with Vsynch...can't win at present. Hopefully things will get improved. Cheers
August 28, 201411 yr Copy from my post in the "Cloud Kill FPS in v.2.3" thread: @Everyone, this was posted on LM's forum today: Quote from Beau on August 28, 2014, 10:34 Hello all, Just to clarify a few points: 1) We did add a volumizing visual effect to nearby clouds which does add a sample and a bit of math to the pixel shader. As Zach noted, this was not a huge hit in any of our tests, but it is more work. 2) The main thing to be aware of when comparing GPU performance is that the number of pixels rendered and rasterized in a frame directly effects your results. One big cloud that fills your screen will do more work than 50 far-off clouds because there will be fewer samples, and raster operations. We were not saying that people are seeing differences. 50 clouds that fill your screen will drastically overstress the GPU. As Zach noted, we are working on ways to cut down on that. There may be other issues contributing to this. If you want to test things with volumizing disabled you can turn off the volume-effect that uses the noise texture by commenting out one line in ShadersHLSL\Cloud.fx. You are looking for this line: #define VOLUMIZE remove it or comment it out like this: //#define VOLUMIZE Then you'll need to clear your shaders cache by deleting the shader folder here: WINDOWS_DRIVE:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 If that solves all your problems, we can add a cfg option for this effect in the next release. If it doesn't really help then there is something else going on. I tried Beau's suggested edit (and deleted my Shades folder). I then loaded a test saved flight and the FPS do seem to be back closer to what I had in v.2.2 under similar conditions. The micro stutters were also reduced quite a bit (they did not totally disappear, but they are no longer nearly as annoying as they had been). This test was done with ASN running, using its Historic Weather option to load the weather doing my saved flight time. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
August 28, 201411 yr Hi Andre, what are your P3D settings? Are you running limited with vsync or unlimited frames without? Are you also using Nvidia Inspector?
August 28, 201411 yr Suffer this myself big time so very disappointing given that performance was the key to this release. Same here. I don't think LM knows what's causing this. I'm not knocking them, I'm just sayin'. Yes, I'm still flying P3D and know that over time, all will be well. Mark
August 28, 201411 yr Author Hi Andre, what are your P3D settings? Are you running limited with vsync or unlimited frames without? Are you also using Nvidia Inspector? Thanks but tried different solutions.... with vsync without / adaptive / adaptive /1/2 refresh rate default profile different drivers different settings from low to high settings etc... At the moment it looks like the default B58 is floating fine through the P3D V2.3 skies and almost getting the idea it's sound related (specific sound files prop sounds despite B58 lol) have to check some more... Have an extra USB headphone beside the analogue one so going to test with disabled on-board sound.... Despite the sound isn't a issue in FSX.... Cheers, André André

August 29, 201411 yr I have the same GPU with an i5 4670K on 4,4Ghz, I don´t have stutters no more after I disable HDR and Volumetric FOG !
August 29, 201411 yr And there's the rub! Why should you have to keep disabling things in P3d just to get it to run smoothly! If LM are implementing these features then why as users are we having to turn them off to get it to work! Let's hope LM find some solutions in 2.4
August 29, 201411 yr The stutters kill it for me. Either other people dont see them or choose not to see them.....im not sure which. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
August 29, 201411 yr The stutters kill it for me. Either other people dont see them or choose not to see them.....im not sure which. In my case I simply flew with them and ignored them until they went away. It's my experience that my stutters are caused by the updating of the shader cache files. Once the files are updated, the stutters stop and the sim is smooth. This may take a few minutes, or a couple of flights. I'll still get stutters, sometimes extreme, when I fly into a new situation that requires shader cache updates. Note that you can check the cache folder, sort by date, to see when the shader cache has been updated. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! August 29, 201411 yr I have been posting this but falling on deaf ears - you have to find the sweet spot in your fps slider in p3d for each specific aircraft - I see no stutters when I do this - not ideal but it works - if I I dont use this method I will see stutters also Ill add that the heavy hitters such as CS777 - AXE - need to run at unlimited - lesser aircraft and yes including phenom for me need to run at 38 fps - your findings will differ on the lesser depending on your video card Rich Sennett
August 29, 201411 yr I have been posting this but falling on deaf ears - you have to find the sweet spot in your fps slider in p3d for each specific aircraft I have found this too. Was being pig-headed before by not limiting FPS, but as soon as I do this, I get smooth performance. With my card (less capable that Rich's) I commonly have to limit at 25fps. So try Richs' suggestion; You just may be surprised! Rob Robin Harris
