Traffic Optimizer for FSX/P3D

It was my suggestion, and I think I did apply the adjective "sustained", so:

Yes, exactly. If the FPS stayed below the minimum requested for a minute or more, then delete a few and wait and see ... etc. I think a very sedate laid-back approach is called for here, no knee-jerk deletions,

UT2 did not use deletions as far as I am aware, I thought it simply reduced or increased the number of injections.  It had the advantage of being able to control it like that because it didn't use pre-compiled traffic files, everything was dynamic. And of course it used proper plans for the AI to follw, using airways rather than great circle routing. Nice -- shame it isn't maintained so all the schedules and airline sleection is now well outdated.

Regards

Pete

Looks like such a solution can only be built within UT2. That is if its current FPS solution is broken as I assume.

...

Also, a new build is out with minimize button, crash on exit fix and hopefully aircraft distances will be correct. Same old link as at the top.

Bump...this should be pinned...this, alone with FA 1.3 can give you anywhere from 5-10 FPS back...with both running...

Mitch - do you see AI being deleted thousands of miles away with the new version (with the minimize button)?

I downloaded that version, Duke, but have not used it yet.  Defragging right now. Will report to your question, later on in the day. Cheers!

I have FSX running but I can't seem to open the Traffic Optimizer .exe file.

I clicked on the .exe but nothing happens.

Duke, the version with the minimize quadrant....works like a charm...no 5,000 mile-off deletions....!!!

You are honing this baby in for a smooth landing!

Thank you,

Mitch

I would sure appreciate some help on downloading and installing Air Traffic manager.  I am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong.  I tried to unzip the file https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing,  It opened up a panel with five section including a .exe file but clicking on this file did nothing.

Thanks in advance fo any help.

Tom do you have FSUIPC installed with FSX?

Also you need .Net 4.0, you should already have it. Try re-installing from here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263

Hi Duke,

I do have the latest FSUIPC and .Net 4.

One thing I find interesting is I can't copy the program file, you have listed on the first page, to another spot for easy start.  I always have to come back to this forum page.  When I download from this forum page it opens a white page on a black background.  The page is entitled "Air Traffic Manager FSX-SP2  5 Items".  The first item listed is "Air Traffic Mgr.exe".  Clicking on this does not start anything.

I am really at a loss here.  My system is nearly high end as it can get and I have a large number of various programs which all work.  Your program sounds very interesting and I would really like to get it loaded.

Thanks,

Tom

Ok, I think you have not downloaded the zip file.

When you click the link, you should see a white box in you browser with title "AirTrafficManagerFSX-SP2.zip 1 item". If you hover the mouse over this white box, you will see an arrow pointing down, just above the box. Click this arrow, this will download the zip file. Extract the zip file somewhere in your disk and and then run the program from there.

Tom,

On that page you will see a series of small icons near the top. You may need to move your mouse cursor to the top. Press the one with a down arrow above a horizontal line. That's the option to download.

All the files need extracting to your Google Drive -- use the Open option above.

Then you must copy the whole set from your Google drive into a folder on your PC.

If you don't have Google Drive you'd need to install that first. It's one of those Cloud storage optoins, like DropBox and SkyDrive (now OneDrive).

Oh, I see there's a direct download option too. Hadn't noticed that before. Ignore all the above, just do as Ray says. ;-)

Incredibly stupid question: Is a registered version of FSUIPC required?

And if I may, how about a feature for only targeting AI with a certain state for deletion?

MSFS suffers from a severe case of "arrival chokehold" after starting a flight at a big airport. Lots of AI planes are trying to land and block all the runways for departing traffic. This lasts for about 20 or 30 Minutes until MSFS' AI engine has sorted everything out, but that's too long for pilots not needing lengthy preflight checks. Even AISmooth has a hard time coping with that and editing AFX files isn't always an option, so thinning out the arriving aircraft a bit would be a great help.

If I had to design such an algorithm, I'd base it on the number of arriving aircraft, delete a fixed percentage of them and keep track of the rest. Once 10 or 25% of the tracked planes have landed, I'd progressively relax the deletion conditions until no deletion is needed anymore or until the user aircraft has left the ground (as non-relevant AI isn't much of an irritance) and then switch the mode into one of these already implemented.

This is of course just an idea. I won't complain if it won't happen.

Thanks all of you for your help.  This old guy who is getting a little slow, grin,  finally got it loaded, now all I have to do is run it with FSX and see what happens.

Thanks again,

Tom

It runs nicely with an unregistered FSUIPC here Bjoern.
