November 18, 201411 yr A solution might be to decrease the autogen max buildings value I have tried reducing autogen too. No luck on my side unfortunately.
November 18, 201411 yr I wonder if this performance problem is isolated to P3D while performing good in FSX? That would explain the wide range of reports and I believe someone else already brought this up.
November 18, 201411 yr I wonder if this performance problem is isolated to P3D while performing good in FSX? I don't think so, since I use FSX (forgot to write it, sorry).
November 18, 201411 yr I don't think so, since I use FSX (forgot to write it, sorry). Ok, was just a thought. To me it sounds the problem is mainly about heavy VAS usage and not necessarily bad performance (as in bad FPS) - is this correct?
November 18, 201411 yr Just want to add my 2 cents to the "it's too expensive" discussion. I won't buy this scenery any time soon, for many reasons, cost is one reason but not the only one. However! the argument that the scenery is too "small" for the price is kind of ridiculous. It reminds me of video/PC-gamers who complain when a game is too "short" like only 10 hours of gameplay etc. Portal for PC by Valve, is one of the greatest games I've ever played and it took me under 4 hours to complete it and it didn't have to be a minute longer. It's such a numb argument, IMO, because you don't measure the quality of something by length or size. There are other Copenhagen payware offerings out there, they are of good quality but the FlyTampa scenery is just out of this world, and that's what you are paying for. Believe me, I wish that FlyTampa sceneries would be cheaper because atm, I can't afford them, but I have no problem with them setting these price-points because those prices represents the correct value of the sceneries, IMO. I really hope FlyTampa have a holiday sale this year so I can finally pick up Vienna.
November 18, 201411 yr Richard, this is for my FSX setup: Impact on VAS depends on your graphics settings and the install options you have chosen. It can get pretty high (but it's configurable). Fps have been good throughout with my slightly aged system and the PMDG NGX. And since I've started to feel the 1 GB VRAM limitation of my GPU with more and more sceneries: No problem with EKCH; VRAM usage stays under 1 GB for me. What happened to AVSIM
November 18, 201411 yr so I can finally pick up Vienna. This one performs fantastic for me. It is generally an awesome addon and one of my favourite airports to fly. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
November 18, 201411 yr This one performs fantastic for me. It is generally an awesome addon and one of my favourite airports to fly. I wholeheartedly recommend it! Sounds good! You'd think that the close proximity of Vienna city would drag the performance down quite a bit. Yeah, it's gonna be the perfect hub in Europe and also eastwards, Russia, Turkey, Middle-east etc. Love the Austrian Airlines liveries/colours too!
November 18, 201411 yr I have to say it performs quite well on my rig, even with 8x SSGA in NI and the DX10 fixer. But if you look at the FlyTampa forums there some new tricks on how to avoid OOMs. For instance, you can remove the amount of building east of the airport thereby reducing VAS load. Brynjar Mauseth
November 18, 201411 yr I can free a couple of hundreds of MB of my VAS by disabling photoscenery in the library. So still 100% of eye-candy with my approach. You can either configure EKCH, or manage your scenery.cfg. Your call ... What happened to AVSIM
November 18, 201411 yr Sounds good, maybe I'll give this scenery a go. Having a good graphics card and since switching to DX10 after lots of OOM issues with Aerosoft's LGTS I think I would be able to run this scenery just fine.
November 18, 201411 yr I used the default install,DX10 fixer and no OOM issues so far (tested with airbus extended extende, and PMDG 777 from OMDB-EKCH). November 18, 201411 yr What really solved all my OOMs was switching to DX10 so that you're able to run this scenery using the default settings with no tweaking I would say is for that very reason that you're running DX10. I love your signature!
November 18, 201411 yr Richard, I'm in the same boat as Jude. FSX, DX10, full set of FTX (Global, Vector, OpenLC EU, FSGlobal mesh). I simply installed EKCH - and no performance problems. Thanks for your report and this again confirms running in DX10 mode is the way to go if your hardware can handle it to avoid OOMs.
