FlyTampa-Copenhagen Released

How many freeware airports has FlyTampa distributed? No knock against FT. But we need to be fair to everyone.

You quoted the wrong person.

I have version 3 of the scenery found at Simmarket IIRC and trying to make up my mind if this would be an improvement justifying the cost.

Is the virtual island just north of the airport included and well rendered?

Guess I'll check out some videos and pictures when I get home.

As for VAS usage I found switching to DX10 is what really made things better for me. Haven't had one single OOM since I switched to DX10 and did so after facing HUGE OOM issues with Aerosoft's LGTS.

LOL! The more customers the more support has to be given. That translates into more time invested in the business. I don't know what your time is worth, but my time is limited.

Your theory will not only be ineffective, but it will certainly NOT prevent piracy.

In my line of work, there's a plethora of cheap DJs, but I'd rather charge more and do less events, than do more events at half the price. Why? My expenses would double.

Generally speaking the marginal cost of selling additional software is close to zero (as supposed to doing a DJ event which is not scalable and comes at a high marginal cost). You seem to be implying that selling one additional addon product is not worth it due to the additional support costs it entails. With all due respect, either the flightsim community has a serious problem with way to high support expectations by the community, or your thinking is just plain flawed.

I also have a strong suspicion that FS developer community would increase the size of the pie by stimulating demand through lower prices (would be interesting to see some research on this). There's only a few airports I use again and again and hence dont mind paying the price of a stand alone game for (30-40 USD). Most airports I only visit occasionally and hence dont justify the full game price tag in my humble opinion.

Having said that I have purchased several Flytampa products, including Copenhagen and think its  a truly great addon.

Speaking about FlyTampa I only have one of their airports (Athens) and to be honest I'm not particularly impressed comparing to some other airports such as the latest Norwegian airports released so clearly I must have missed something considering how praised FlyTampa is in here but also elsewhere or maybe it's simply because FlyTampa's Athens is an old scenery.

Yeah its pretty old and it shows. They had it on special , 30% a few weeks back and I still didn't get tempted

I was just going to say that!

I'd recommend LOWW.

Beech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?
ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry.

Not implying that one additional product sold would create additional support, but selling more at a cheaper price doesn't equal more profit if there's more time spent on supporting the addon.

If no one needs support, then great. But, that's highly unlikely.

MSFS

Does it blend with the FTX Global and OpenLC textures?

Try their Dubai scenery, that is really excellent and includes the full city. I never bought Athens so can't really comment but Montreal is also really good from them. FT used to be the best out there however recently I think they have spent a lot of time improving their older products such as Vienna, St Marteen etc so they have seemed quiet let's say. Sydney however is due from them very soon and that should be fantastic, it really does look that way anyway. FT used to be fantastic in the FS9 days but they now have a few products for example that don't work with DX10 which puts them behind a bit. FlightBeam for me are probably the best and they really do produce amazing, art-like scenery. FT will always remain up there though.

Thanks, maybe I'll try those sceneries further down the road. At this time however I do all my flying in Europe.

Looking forward to YSSY :)
