777 OOM - depleted VAS (my brand)

Featured Replies

Does the built in time acceleration feature save on VAS at all, as in it doesn't load all the addon contents you are just flying over which as I understand it does otherwise regardless of flight level.

Thx

  • Hey guys, no way is the navdata going to create a VAS problem. All that data does is act as database for FMS.   Back on topic:  Finally got my B777 out of the hanger having been slaving for RSR with

I don't believe it saves any VAS or loads any less scenery. My experience when testing for OOMs' shows that using the same route with normal or accelerated time results in an OOM at about the same location no matter what type of time is used.

Just completed flight from KATL to KSFO Start at 1.2GB free, tookoff at 930MB free, enroute 900+MB free Landed at 817MB Free at gate 726MB free

So the leak you saw flying KATL-KLAX wasn't present when you flew to KSFO?

No leak (at least not to the extent of the KLAX 25L flight) was detected.

Next, I would try changing your KLAX.txt 25L approach entries to my edits above (and 25R, 7L/R) and see what your results are.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know that the beta team has been able to reproduce the KLAX issue and we're looking into what precisely might be happening to cause it now. Really good work Kyle and Michael in particular on isolating the problem - this is exactly the kind of methodology that we like to see in a bug report. It's very difficult when we have only a vague statement to go on like "I get OOMs." When we have something specific to look at in a controlled scenario like this, then that's something actionable that we can hone in on.

I'll update again once we have a better idea of what's happening and why.

I agree, you should recommend them for the Beta team for the 744V2 and future products! They've definitely proven they have what it takes!

I can attest to Kyle's abilities to repeatedly fly the same flight over and over again with only a minute change each time - the guy is relentless and has much more patience than me.

Or may throw them a nice -300 license  :Big Grin:

Agreed,

Not a PMDGT7 Driver yet. I'm still enjoying the world trouble free with FS9 but I've been following this thread from start to study issues that may be at hand when or if I jump to P3D. Investment in my FS/SE is still in decision.

For these guys to actually pinpoint a leak from just a simple runway intersection is amazing.

Haha!  Thanks, guys, for the kind words.  I'm glad a) I may have been able to help a few others, even just a little bit, and b ) perhaps more importantly, my sim rig and I are not totally crazy

This is certainly one of the strangest things I've seen in my many years of simming; but I'm afraid to say I've seen a lot stranger things flight testing aircraft in reality :P  - it's a good thing I wasn't using real Jet-A for this.

I'm definitely curious what the root cause winds up being, once the devs come up with their conclusions.  And, finally, I'll certainly have to bring myself to finally purchase the -300ER once it's resolved...need a change of 777 scenery at this point since JFK-LAX has sure worn itself out.

There is now a Rev2 of PMDG Nav Data for this cycle from Navigraph, Is this the fix for this problem, or is this something else?

Tom Cain

I believe something else, I went ahead and attempted it with the stock KLAX.txt file that comes with it and didn't notice any changes.

EDDP-KLAX is a Sothern Air flight (cargo) which I fly weekly. I have flown them since the Winter of 2014. When the OOMs started in December 2014 I completed ten flights by saving the flight and restarting FSX and loading the saved flight twice during the twelve hour flight. A couple of times I had to use the autosave feature of FSUIPC. Using 1407 R2 KLAX.txt it's back to once week flights in the future. Since it's all pretty much during the night you could be doing EHAM-KMIA in a Martinair MD-11 and not know the difference. It's all pretty much burnt coffee.

AIRAC 1502 R2 does not correct the problem at KLAX.

Dear simmers,

Just bought the T7 for P3D  ( spent 90 USD ) , I am using it with version 2.5 hotfixed + ORBX global prodcts and ASN, brilliant add-on ( actually it's nearing perfection-real life 747-400 pilot ) but OOM's !!! , and what I like about ultra long haul planes is fly ultralong routes !..

So far impossible to complete a OMDB-KLAX flight..... VAS steadily increasing and OOM appears after 3/4 of the flight as everybody gets.

Never made it to KLAX , even after applying config changes as stated in many OOM's debates... That's a pity, any chance to work on a VAS friendly plane as we are all waiting for a 64 bit P3D sim ? Like you know an option you would have in the center MCDU ....

Very frustrating.

Cheers !
