Argh! Do not ever use the Control Panel to "uninstall" P3D (any version). This method will not contact Lockheed Martin's server and reset your activation!

That is why the "installer" has an option to "Repair" or "Uninstall" Prepar3D built in.

This is so critical that it is the locked sticky post at the very top of this forum:

Wait, what? Sorry, I'm just reading this thread and this caught my eye. Because the thread you link to, in the thread you link to above, actually specifically states:

To deactivate, simply uninstall Prepar3D using the standard Windows Programs and Features manager found under the Control Panel, or by executing the installer Setup.exe or installer Prepar3D.msi and selecting uninstall. Your license will be reset/freed once the uninstall process is complete.

And:

Both methods will still trigger the deactivation and allow you to activate on another computer.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled P3D V2 over a dozen times, and using the Control Panel method will be absolutely fine. Just wondering, otherwise you might be helping to create another flight sim superstition :P.

Hey, if we're really not tweaking we are not having fun.

A recent scientific study found that 98% of simmers would rather spend time tweaking, than flying.

Lol, yes, so true, & thats because FSX is such a dog! As FS9 was the XP of sims, FSX is the Vista.

It's frustrating having to fix stuff over and over, here and there. My water is so un-ntural, even with all the recommendations. And, those spinning clouds are such a disappointment. I hope LM will fix it. Honestly, I'm having second thoughts about P3D.

The only thing I have better than FSX, so far, are a generous increase in performance...Massive gain in fps, shadows, and a more vivid look.

If REX does not manage to fix the water animation and LM does not fix those crazy clouds, then I might simply go back to FSX....I can live without shadows.

If this, & if that..

Who cares! Don't be so anal & critical. Go back to an 8 year old program, go back to Windows XP. Yup, not so many hassles as W7 or W8.FLY the planes, or is eye candy more important. You do say P3D is performance wise better.

+1 Rich. "You can lead a horse to water ...."   et.al.

Stupidly expensive rig, nonplussed Memsahib, disinterested offspring and a fascinated cat as Rio.  XP11, P3Dv3 and an Oculus Rift.

fsx is a dead horse

For being dead, I seem to be using it just as much as Prepard3er.

Thats fine, most of the guys play FSX for fun & fly P3D when they want to learn, as they have bought it as a training tool,'not for entertainment '

LOL! Some of us old fogies who have been around forever remember the various iterations of the flight sim.  As the expression goes - SSDD - freely translated to Same Stuff Different Day!

ALL of the various responses have been said over and over. "My (insert sim here) is just fine! I don't need to upgrade".  etc.etc.etc.

FSX is dead as is FS9 in that it is no longer being developed. They still run just fine and depending on your individual needs, they may be fine for a long time.

Right now, the future is P3D - it is currently far better than FSX on the proper system and it is still under development. FSX is almost 10 years old - that is FOREVER in computer software. P3D is being developed to take advantage of modern hardware, something that will never happen with FSX.

So, you may get dragged kicking and screaming into the new world but you will get here eventually. Might as well get used to it.

Ah, my young jedi, there is another, and it will be introduced by Dovetail Games in the not so distant future. P3D isn't our only option. Just my .002c

So the horse will be resurrected? Wow, that's a new interpretation.
