December 14, 201411 yr Moderator Ah, my young jedi, there is another, and it will be introduced by Dovetail Games in the not so distant future. P3D isn't our only option. Just my .002c Jazz Does anyone really believe that Dovetail is doing ANYTHING to FSX other than making it steam compatible. They do not rewrite software, they just package it for online delivery. Same product, same problems. It will be a non player in the sim market. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

December 14, 201411 yr You may be surprised. Im reading that a few developers have been having "communtication" problems with the almighty and great Lockheed Martin . That doesnt sound to me like a great future. William
December 14, 201411 yr Maybe LM are as annoyed as the rest of us that Flight1 are not interested in a P3D version of the Cessna Citation Mustang? December 15, 201411 yr Moderator Just wondering, otherwise you might be helping to create another flight sim superstition . Well, I have to go by the experience of many, many, MANY simmers who've had to wait several days for their license to be manually reset. And the advice given from the nice folks at Lockheed-Martin's P3D team has consistently advised to not use the Control Panel method to avoid the license deactivation issue. Please, feel free to argue with them... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 15, 201411 yr OMG first a train simululator, now a horse simulator? May the farce be with you.. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
December 15, 201411 yr Does anyone really believe that Dovetail is doing ANYTHING to FSX other than making it steam compatible. Well, It has been stated that they are doing some minor bug fixes, and adding in a new multi-player, for FSX. Nothing new or ground breaking, I agree, but it is enough to keep people flying in FSX for a good while longer. And as long as enough people are flying in FSX, developers will continue to create/sell content. The big question about Dovetail is the new "Flight" sim that are developing. What it will look like, and the target audience are anyones guess. Hopefully neither FSX or "Flight" will get the same treatment as Train Simulator. $5.00 per livery,...no thanx. Just my opinion of course. Jazz
December 15, 201411 yr Actually, there was a 'horse' that you download for FS9, many years ago.. Jazz, How did you get the idea that 'Flight' will be re-released again? They spoke about 'flight' technology, that could be anything from the old FS9 engine, Combat Flight Sim engine or even the Flight! engine. Let's not take ANYTHING forgranted until it actually happens. Realistically, Dovetail will be a distributor for an 8 year old game that has been tweaked for multiplayer, & is it concievable that their own 'game'will be based on a game that Microsoft could not even give away? Please, feel free to argue with them... I thought I was pretty polite and factual in pointing something out. I'm not here to argue with anyone, but your reply comes across as if I've offended you or you feel attacked... Just saying, you might want to double check what you link to then. Because the thread you used to back up your statement to never use Control Panel to uninstall, says the exact opposite. And also from someone who has contacted LM themselves directly. But what the heck, let's just ignore that  . I will stick by MY experience and the experience of the many, many simmers I know who've not had to wait days for their license to be reactivated  .

Ummm.... direct from the horse's mouth: To deactivate, simply uninstall Prepar3D using the standard Windows Programs and Features manager found under the Control Panel, Found at the Prepar3d forum thread here: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/topic/prepar3d-v2-license-deactivation-and-reactivation-procedure/
December 15, 201411 yr Author Right now, the future is P3D - it is currently far better than FSX on the proper system and it is still under development. FSX is almost 10 years old - that is FOREVER in computer software. P3D is being developed to take advantage of modern hardware, something that will never happen with FSX. So, you may get dragged kicking and screaming into the new world but you will get here eventually. Might as well get used to it. Vic Vic, I agree with you. I believe that P3D is the future due to the high importance LM is giving to it. For me it is working very well general. The only major disappointment is water animation. Not sure if I need to adjust some setting. But as I mentioned earlier, we live tweaking and fixing our sims even if there's nothing wrong. Sure not everyone but most do. Why? Well, cause we find excitement in seeing it perform better. I don't believe Wobbie understands my sense of humor when I said: "Recent studies have shown that 98% of simmers prefer tweaking than flying." Of course I was joking, but the guy starrting telling something about "anal" stuff and so on. Humm, honestly I'm not into that, but I do respect others hobbies or believes. But anyway, I don't believe I would go back to FSX. I am enjoying P3D, and working on bringing over all my of my FSX stuff. As far as the water, I'm patiently waiting on REX- or else? Or else I will proceed on an endeavor that will revolutionize water on every man, woman, and child's sim for ever ! :o Have you not read Robs post on fixing the cloud issue - I do not have this issue but here you go - fsx is a dead horse http://forum.avsim.net/topic/457324-solution-to-p3d-v24-and-v23-vertical-cloud-issue/page-2 Hi Richard, yes I have done that. But, it only fixes a bit of the vertical clouds; however, it does nothing to the "spining" of clouds. But, it is a good improvement, for sure. Ricky Torbe
December 15, 201411 yr If I misunderstood your senses of humour,I do apologize. But,yup, tweaking is what FSX was made for. I'm also waiting decent water, & moving stuff over is quite challenging at times. I moved the gauges & sound folders over, just in case as well. I am quite selective with what I moved, asmy FSX collection was huge. Only the stuff I really like & fly regularly went over, not my just in case stuff. Cheers, Robin Robin "Onward & Upward" ... Yeah I' m with you...I'm not moving everything... just what I really need or use. It sure is a lot of work; but I think it is worth-while. Our passion for aviation not only can be expensive but very time-consuming. But then again, all this is for good reasons! Ricky Torbe
December 15, 201411 yr I think I suffer from the dreaded "just a little bit more" syndrome. Adding, tweaking & then trying to remember what you did to undo what you should not have done in the first place.. (deleting FSX before moving stuff over that I had made a mental note to do). I have been known to say the "phawk" word occasionally! Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
